won't ever have to worry about that..He will never know what it is to pay a utility bill, keep a roof over his head, or wonder where his next meal is coming from..
The royal baby is one of around 2,000 children born every day in the UK. Yet whilst the third in line to the throne can expect a life unimaginable to its cohort of subjects with whom it will share a birthday, all babies can anticipate a longer span than their parents before them Yet worryingly campaigners estimate that one in three children in Britain four million young people - are living in relative poverty which is one of the highest figures in the industrial world..
This pasty rice face woman came to my school once..I remember arriving in this black car that looked like they used when people died, surrounded by a flurry of people around...we were all supposed to curtsey ....I forget, she looked like an ordinary old woman to me..I didn't smile, she didn't look like any of the Queens that were in my fairytale books..

(2,899 posts)In the UK everyone has free health care. Single mothers are entitled to a rent free home and all kinds of other benefits.

There are many people in the UK that have never worked a day in their lives, and never worry about paying a utility bill or keeping a roof over their heads. Believe me, they are not royalty.

(2,899 posts)Stating facts. Someone has to around here.
Have you bothered to look into the UK benefit system?
I mean, the reference to Boudica is pretty transparent--surely every kindergarten kid has heard of Boudica (possibly as Boadicea) and her exploits against the invaders so only a nitwit would be unaware of her importance to the burgeoning indigenous liberation movement to drive out the invaders and avenge the genocide of the original Britons. Obviously a cunning ruse that the Adder himself could have come up with, a devious false-flag operation against democratic forces.
And Lyoness? Granted, it's not in the US, but its mere origin in Austria means it must be related to Hitler.

(12,028 posts)It really is a different kind of poverty than here in the US.
With national healthcare, a safety net, and a monthly child benefit check for every child (http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/tools/childbenefit/chbcalc.htm), I thought they were much better off than that. I recall chatting with a business colleague in the UK who says she receives the check every month from the government for each of her two children -- even though she has a good job and doesn't need it.
