Stop spreading the lie that they used a 5 year old pic of Travon Martin. Not true!

I keep reading again and again that the first and widely spread picture of Travon Martin wearing a red t shirt is from he was 12 years old. FALSE!!

The picture was taken only seven months before he died. He just looked like a little boy.

Anyone who saw the picture of his body at the scene can see how young he looked.

Since you can't copy & paste from Snopes website.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/post-partisan/wp/2013/07/02/fake-photo-of-trayvon-martin-still-making-the-rounds/

They say the smiling Trayvon in the Hollister t-shirt is 12 years old. And they complain that the media are guilty of a liberal bias for showing it rather that what they think is a more up-to-date image. I asked Martin family attorney Benjamin Crump about this in February. Trayvon was 16 when that photo was taken in August 2011. If folks want a more current picture before the teenager was killed by a single shot to the heart they ought to look at the one of him on a horse. It was taken about a week before he was killed.

Not exactly an unbiased source.

Also, the picture of Trayvon in red, next to his school ID picture taken supposedly at the same time, makes it look like the color picture is of a much younger Trayvon. Compare the size of the necks in the two pictures and look at the shoulders. The picture with the red shirt looks a fair amount younger, and smaller, than the other one.

This afternoon on MSNBC the woman moderator said Trayvon Martin had been smoking pot that night. Martin was killed at 7:16PM and that is early evening by any account. Plus, the trace amount found in his system was consistent with someone who had smoked at least 48 hours earlier. Just because it is a favorite talking point of Bill O'Reilly does not mean you should be repeating it as once again it is spreading the lie.

7 months before he was killed would have made him 16 1/2. He was 17 years and 21 days when he was killed.

The character assassination of Martin (both in and out of the media) from the time he was shot until now has been ugly.
