General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsWhy are we and the media not discussing Mrs. Santorum's time, unmarried, with her
abortion doctor? I have no problem whatsoever that he performs abortion along with delivering children, but when the President was attending a church not to the right's liking, and questioning the content of the sermons...It was all over the news, blogs and every website you visited. Under Google a very explicit article outlines "dr. tom allen/santorum with her picture. Why is this not being discussed? I'm seeing a real double-standard here.

(4,254 posts)The wife of fiercely pro-life presidential hopeful Rick Santorum had a six-year love affair with an abortion doctor, 40 years her senior who, incredibly, delivered her as a baby it has emerged.

If he does not want those things discussed about his family then he should have never brought it up.
He opened the door.

(104 posts)We should stay away from Santorum's wife. First of all, Santorum won't probably be the GOP nominee. Second, attacking his wife may backfire and generate sympathy.
Santorum is already an easy target, if he wins GOP primary (unlikely).

(25,183 posts)Besides, given the extreme inappropriatenesses of this relationship, it would certainly cast "the abortion doctor" in nothing but a negative light, with Santorum's wife as nothing but a manipulated victim that was 'saved' by Sick Rick's love of her in the process of turning her into a baby machine.
Leave the story alone, or let Mittens be the one to ham-handedly bring it up.

(15,189 posts)Would have to lock up his wife's doctor and his wife for allowing it to take place. She should have sacrificed herself for Ricky's future. LOL!
Just in case.

(11,119 posts)But I have no problem with anyone who wants to bring her flip-flop to the general public's attention. After all, this fair and above board, high-road campaigning will only get us (Democrats) another 4 - 8 years of watching the repukes phuck up and crap over everything President Obama has left standing..........

(15,189 posts)I read up post about Mittens maybe going after him over this. So maybe it is best to stay out of it. But I am so tired of playing nice with these morAns. Let Mittens fling santorum.

(47,613 posts)who say Mrs. Santorum's life before Rick shouldn't be part of the campaign, but I DO have a problem with Rick Santorum's extreme anti-abortion position when his wife had a 2nd trimester abortion to save her life. In this case, it involved Rick and shows how hypocritical the man is. When it is HIS wife's life, a medically necessary abortion is alright. All other women be damned.

All these hipocrites have been 'saved' or are getting saved, and everyone loves a 'reformed' sinner.

(146,333 posts)I think it's irrelevant, except with regard to the hypocrisy of it, but it will come up. It's already been a story once, and that story will re-emerge at some point if Santorum gets the GOP nomination.
Right now, he's just one of the candidates for that nomination. You're not going to see the campaign committees start in on any of this stuff until there is a candidate. Right now, it's about pointing out the successes of the President and the clown car aspects of the GOP primary race. There's plenty of time for dirt about the eventual candidate to emerge. Plenty of time.
