... "I tapped the flag on my shoulder and asked him what it meant," she said. "He said the flag meant nothing to him and he did not consider himself to have allegiance to this country or any people." She said she was "distraught" by the statement and suspected Manning was a spy ... Showman said she reported the comments verbally to her supervisor, Sgt. 1st Class Paul Adkins. Adkins, now retired, testified he didn't remember such a conversation, but also said his memory is impaired because of a fall he suffered during one of his deployments. Adkins also said he didn't recall hearing Manning making any disloyal remarks before his arrest in May 2010. Prosecutor Capt. Angel Overgaard later produced a document that Adkins signed in June 2011 stating he had informed a supervisor about Showman's allegation ... http://www.theeagle.com/news/nation/article_152b7938-315a-5bc7-8112-b8cd0c0d9ef5.html

... Her suspicions and his odd behavior finally culminated late one night in a flash of angry tempers and fisticuffs. The clues, she testified in his court-martial Friday, were everywhere. He worked long hours, stayed late and kept to himself inside the special classified intelligence collection “skiff” called Forward Operating Base Hammer. She said she had been awakened and told to report back to the unit to investigate why Manning was still there. Once she arrived, they shouted, a table tumbled and he hit her in the face, she said. On the ground, she wrestled him into submission. “He should never had messed with me,” said Showman, who used to play football. “Back then, I had 15-inch biceps” ...

... Showman has admitted that she called Manning "faggotty" for not being able to do many push-ups, and Manning's online chat history shows that he privately talked about having punched Showman, whom he called a "dyke," in the face ... The Army's Criminal Investigation Division interviewed Showman multiple times after Manning's arrest in May 2010, but Showman did not relate the flag incident until her second interview in April 2011. As for the first interview, in March 2011, Showman told the court Friday: "I don't remember anything that was said in that interview. Nothing." She also claimed to have a spotty memory of her stint on the silver screen, saying that she did not even know, until her parents told her, that the Alex Gibney documentary was released a month before Manning's trial ...
