So, what does everyone think about the latest Gallup poll? Re: Treatment of Black Americans.

More U.S. blacks satisfied with how society treats them, poll finds

A new poll shows that black Americans have grown more upbeat about their treatment in society after the reelection of President Obama.

Earlier this summer, a record 47% said they were satisfied with how blacks were treated in the country — more than at any other time since Gallup started asking the question in 2001.

However, Gallup cautioned that the question was asked before George Zimmerman was acquitted in the killing of Trayvon Martin — an event that could dim that rising optimism. Civil rights leaders have called the controversial verdict a wake-up call to those who thought the election of a black president heralded a post-racial era.

The Zimmerman case "could prove to be a watershed event in how not just blacks, but all Americans, perceive society's treatment of blacks today," Gallup senior editor Lydia Saad wrote in a summary of the results. The research group surveyed more than 4,300 adults, including more than 1,000 black Americans, in June and early July.

It would be like the GOP conducting the poll. Would you trust the results?

I did find the actual poll and it is much more telling than the Sentinel article. For example, "These broad views are based on those either very or somewhat satisfied, or very or somewhat dissatisfied. In terms of intensity, many more blacks are very dissatisfied, as opposed to very satisfied, with how members of their race are treated in society: 22% vs. 9%."

Here is a link to the actual poll which has the questions, the margins of error, how the poll was done (by telephone), who was polled (" All respondents had previously been interviewed in the Gallup Daily tracking survey.&quot .

When it comes to article citing polls, I wish they would provide a link to the actual poll in the article so readers can see all the data not just a subjective perspective and summary.

Too many articles about polls, too many articles about legislation, too many articles about research or reports fail to do this.

Not hard to include a link. Or 5.

a news article is based on because they either couldn't be bothered to include it or, in my cynical mind, there is more the issue in the article than they want easily known.
