BRENTWOOD There were 46 houses for sale last week inside The Governors Club, but not a single for sale sign in sight there.
Several weeks ago the gated community in Brentwood apparently became the first in Williamson County to ban the use of real estate for-sale signs, after outlawing open houses last year.
If we dont even have open houses anymore then we dont have people roaming around the community anyway. Who could see the signs? said resident Stephen Prince, who is president of The Governors Club Property Owners Association.
The homeowners group sent letters to listing agents in late May informing them of the ban on signs.
The community is gated to prevent random drive-thru traffic, it said.
The Board believes that eliminating the signage will benefit the appearance of the community and hopefully lessen desired access by persons outside the community.

I don't care how nice the houses are in any community, if I think that they might make it difficult for to sell a house down the road, I will look elsewhere. Who wants to be held hostage by a bunch of dictators?

(90 posts)I live in a condo community in Nashua, NH and we have a Home Owners Association.
My condo is on the market and we are not allowed to have signs or open houses.
My agent doesn't think it's a problem as most shoppers have their own agent and use the MLS almost exclusively.
We've had a lot of showings and a few offers.
According to my agent Open Houses only draw nosy neighbors.
