Racist Trolls Try to Stir Shit Up at Peaceful Racial Profiling Protest

Dozens of people gathered Tuesday outside the Towne East Square mall in Wichita to protest the arrest of a black man who was charged with criminal trespassing for walking around the mall in a black hoodie with a sign around his neck that read "If I don’t stand for something then I will fall for anything #RIPTrayvon Martin."

25-year-old A.J. Bohannon was taken into custody on Monday by Wichita Police after refusing mall security's request to remove the sign. The guards had also asked him to remove his hoodie, which he reluctantly did, but only after inquiring why the mall sold hoodies if patrons weren't allowed to wear them.

Protesters who came out to show their support for Bohannon decried his arrest as a form of racial profiling. In the midst of their peaceful rally, which also featured signs called for "Justice for Trayvon," two rotund individuals showed up, clearly intending to incite a riot.

One of the two white men can be seen in footage from the protest wearing a T-shirt that says "this shirt can say NIGGER because it is black." According to the video's description, Wichita police were called to defuse the situation, but let the men leave go on about their business.

Funny thing is that although the Wichita Police said that AJ Bohanan's sign around his neck that said, "If I don't stand for something I'll fall for anything!!! #RIP Trayvon Martin" was inciting a riot and arrested him. The two grown men with "NIGGER" on a shirt walking up on a group of Black youth grieving the death of an unarmed Black teen were able to laugh with them and go home.

I don't think the cop could have got them for "inciting to riot". But he could have got them for "disorderly conduct".

Statute 21-4101: Disorderly conduct. Disorderly conduct is, with knowledge or probable cause to believe that such acts will alarm, anger or disturb others or provoke an assault or other breach of the peace:
(a) Engaging in brawling or fighting; or

(b) Disturbing an assembly, meeting, or procession, not unlawful in its character; or

(c) Using offensive, obscene, or abusive language or engaging in noisy conduct tending reasonably to arouse alarm, anger or resentment in others.

Disorderly conduct is a class C misdemeanor.

6. Several things.

Mr. Bohannon was in a public place exercising his right to free speech. He will beat the charge of Criminal Trespassing. He has an avenue to sue the management of Towne East Square Mall. He could do either of or both of these things with a barely competent lawyer.

As far as dealing with pricks like this..Years ago I was in a strike at a slaughter house. The company put an old school sized TV camera on the roof and set it up so it looked like it was taping the front gate. Then they bused in scabs. They also had to use trucks to move product on and off the grounds. We screamed and yelled when ever the buses and trucks crossed the picket line until a truck driver pointed a pistol at some of the strikers.
We needed a different tactic.
We applied the technique of the camera on the roof. We made a show of photographing the buses, the faces of the people on the bus, the semi cabs (plate numbers and company info on doors) , and the truck drivers. One of the guys got a hold of a couple united teamster tee shirts and set up a table with 1 guy in a dress shirt and the 3 of them took notes on the arriving and departing trucks. The bus drivers and truckers got very leery about crossing the line. The scabs dwindled in number. We didn't explain anything, we didn't do anything else.
The strike lasted a little over a week after that.

I suggest, for every protest, that the organizers appoint a committee of say 5 persons to run asshole interference. At least 1 person should be in a suit (strive for a calm person). This is the spokesperson for the asshole resistance team (ART). Have 2 other persons act as video recorders. One records their vehicles, the license plates, all stickers, the model, all four sides, and the tire treads. Record the assholes from all sides. The other video person videos the spokesperson and the assholes. The others act as peaceful security. Have the 1st camera and one of the security move a distance away, but still in sight of the assholes. Connect the camera to a laptop and transfer images. Do a web search, give the spokesperson a thumbs up.
The spokesperson could pull out a case of plastic business cards and holding at a well marked edge hand it to an asshole. The object is to get him to touch and then throw down the card. A security should then pick it up with gloves and place it in a plastic bag (to be turned over to the police if things go bad). If the asshole ask about the video, the answer is it's for a data base (release the photos here on DU). Ask as to motive. Ask for names. ask for a clear shot of their faces. If asked, explain about face recognition software. If pointed out normal people don't have access to face recognition software, admit the truth of that statement and nothing else.
Offer copies to any police officer who express an interest in it.
Hopeful a lawyer will protest as well and can jump in if needed.

Be creative, have fun, remember these people are not that bright and tend to be cowards. But watch out for guns, film them and call 911 immediately.
