NEWT: "You can't put a gun rack on a Volt."

At a campaign event in Suwanee, Georgia, the former House Speaker told supporters that he would bring back cheaper gas because "you can't put a gun rack on a Volt."

"There is no reason not to believe that we couldn't stabilize with American production by drowning demand in supply the old-fashioned, free market way," he explained. "There's not reason we couldn't have a stable price around $2 or $2.50 per gallon."

In an interview on Sunday, Fox News host Chris noted that if Gingrich attempted to increase oil production in the U.S., OPEC would decrease production to keep international energy prices high.

....................

"You can't guarantee anything," Gingrich agreed. "But you can guarantee that under the Obama plan, there's going to be less American production, higher prices."

God I'm sick of these Republicans. To try to make Obama look bad, Republicans constantly whine (dishonestly) about how bad our country is for business. Any business listening to Republicans would avoid America. Now Gingrich is directly putting down an American made, technology forerunner product.

They hate Obama so much that they'll damage the country to get to him.

and they're going to blame Obama for it.

Never mind the "free market" through speculation is what got the price so high in the first place. Not to mention that the oil industry may or may not be colluding, but they know what higher prices will mean in November. They're also letting the great unwashed think that not drilling in national parks and not allowing dirty tar sand from Canada to be piped to the Gulf of Mexico is causing shortages and higher prices. And they're not exactly touting the fact the oil produced will be sold on the open market where most of it will end up overseas.

I also seem to recall when Bush2* was running for pres. for the first time, we were told that having guys with oil industry experience was going to help bring the price of fuel down. What a crock.

Reality has absolutely nothing to do with anything that comes out of his mouth anymore, he says things that he thinks the lowest common denominator right wing mouth-breather wants to hear.

It must be difficult for those type of people that actually believe that they can create their own reality just by saying or thinking it to be so.

Facts are meaningless to them, and Reality is a foreign country to them which they never visit.
