How long before we "sell" Detroit (and other cities to follow in Detroit's footsteps) to the highest bidder?

(6,145 posts)The state AG ruled the collection could not be sold for purposes other than buying more art. Encouraging but we'll see if the emergency manager lists the artwork as an asset in federal BK court anyway.
It was the manager and not the creditors who originally put this on the table and I have a nagging feeling that he gave them enough leverage to use with a bankruptcy judge if they want to push.

(19,429 posts)Therefore, the creditors of Detroit can lay claim to the museum.
Whether they can actually get something out of the museum is up to the bankruptcy courts. And many will and gifts would have strings attached so that the museum cannot sell them. They would revert to other heirs.

Obviously city pensions will be the first to go. But what really happens. Cops, transit workers, sanitation.
Does it affect Michigan's credit rating?
