Report: Gunman Outside White House Says He Was Only Going To Fire A Couple Shots

A shirtless man who took out a loaded gun at a U.S. Secret Service police booth outside the White House told officers, “I was only going to fire a couple of shots if no one confronted me,” according to court documents, NBCWashington reported Thursday.

Christopher Wade Briggs was arrested Tuesday afternoon when officers saw him take a semi-automatic .45-caliber handgun from a backpack and attach it to his belt holster.

The gun was loaded with 13 rounds in the magazine and one in the chamber, according to NBC. Officers found two more magaziness with 13 rounds, 171 more rounds of .45-caliber, hollow-point ammunition and two hunting knives with serrated edges on his property. They did not find a license to carry or any gun permit in his name.

with a .45 (which can't even break a window at that distance) is NOTHING of a threat to humanity, singular or group, compared to a couple trillion in prime military hardware that ACTUALLY kill kids and people every day at the order of this guy:

own it, embrace it. take a shower in it. the last half of your little name there is fitting.

hang loose.

I prefer the VP of HR or COO, and the pretty girl next door with a strong father-daughter relationship. they tend to have a lower partner count (less than 5) and can bond better, better long term prospects. you have to be mean and insulting to the most beautiful girls (like models) and that's not my personality. oh well.

If he feels Sasha is such a threat I'm sure it's his right to stop her, question her, and shoot her if she kicks him in the nuts to get away- right? I mean - it's his god given RIGHT to brandish a gun at the WH since those SS folks were threatening him. :sarcasM:

No question mark intentional. My 'why' is not a question since there is no answer. 'Guys a freakin' loon' isn't acceptable. I know (and am related to) several loons and none of them have done anything similar.

He's a special kind of loon and will be kept safe and some friendly people will do their best to help him. Grateful he's off the street, away from the White House and never got a chance to fire off a 'couple shots'.

29. I thought gun ownership was legal?

I thought most states (don't know much about the District of Columbia) have laws allowing concealed carry and open carry everywhere, sometimes even including schools and churches. Certainly, all the gun apologists out there think guns should be everywhere. And there are plenty of gun apologists here on DU.

So I honestly don't see why anyone should be very surprised at this. It's the logical outcome of the gun idiocy in this country.

And for those of you who don't already know me, I'm the one who not only despises pretty much all guns and all excuses for gun ownership, but I tend to advocate confiscating guns. Which means, of course, there will be any number of snotty or defensive responses to this post which I simply won't respond to.

Oh. I do totally oppose assassinating anyone, including Presidents.

It is obvious that the caliber of his pistol was larger than his IQ (a 45 = 0.450 of 1 inch). Picking on him is equivalent to anger at a toddler for making boom-boom in his pants. This dipshit made boom-boom of his life.
And yes I know it could have been a tragedy, but it wasn't. The system worked. We shouldn't punish people on their possible potential to do damage that was prevented from happening. Or do you favor sending a young person to prison for 10+ years for possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, if they might have 6 joints in their pocket?
The danger to the President was non-existent, the danger to people in the area was minimal, the danger to the dumbass was mind boggling. That he is still here to go to trial is amazing.
