Adolf Hitler had a son with a French teenager while serving as a soldier during the First World War, according to new evidence. His extraordinary story has now been backed up by a range of compelling evidence, both in France and in Germany, which is published in the latest edition of Paris's Le Point magazine.
Hitler is said to have had an affair with Mr Loret's mother, Charlotte Lobjoie, 16, as he took a break from the trenches in June 1917.
Although he was fighting the French near Seboncourt, in the northern Picardy region, Hitler made his way to Fournes-in-Weppe, a small town west of Lille, for regular leave.
There he met Miss Lobjoie, who later told their son: "One day I was cutting hay with other women, when we saw a German soldier on the other side of the street.

"Other elements which corroborate the story are official Wehrmacht, or German Army, papers which show that officers brought envelopes of cash to Miss Lobjoie during the Second World War. "
"When Miss Lobjoie died, Mr Loret also found paintings in her attic which were signed by Hitler, who was an accomplished artist.
"In Germany, meanwhile, a picture of a woman painted by Hitler looked exactly like Miss Lobjoie. "

I don't even if any of Hitler's DNA still exists, to compare his to.

(53,410 posts)Not that I don't think it's possible because it could easily have happened. Nor am I resisting the idea that Hitler had offspring. It's simply not compellingly convincing to me yet.
And wouldn't German officers bringing cash to a woman in a small village during WWII create a nasty backlash against her? She would have been considered a traitor and punished as such wouldn't she?
But even though I question the veracity I'm quite willing to accept it as fact if it's true.

(53,410 posts)Which makes the claim more than just words on paper. I'm assuming that the other old timers who saw Hitler in the village have corroborated the story of him being there. That's what makes it intriguing. There's just enough probable evidence to make it a distinct possibility.

(11,101 posts)The Germans had the run of the place, so I'm not sure where the backlash would have come from. Certainly not from the Vichy government.

(53,410 posts)Granted, these are WWII photos, but I imagine collaborators were treated badly after WWI, especially in a small town.

(39,215 posts)German soldiers when they were there. She said that they were not as bad as she expected. I think what she was saying is that many homes housed the young soldiers in the regular army and found them to be human just like us. As to being forced I used quotes because it was not at the point of a gun but if you refused there could be big trouble.

(53,410 posts)If you take away the way he combed his hair and his moustache there would be nothing to strike anyone as unique. He looks like a million other nondescript men anywhere on earth. That's what always struck me as odd with Hitler and Himmler and others. They were so ordinary looking, even downright plain looking, while touting the blond godlike physique of the 'Aryan' race as being superior to all others. Hitler and so many of his officials certainly didn't look 'Aryan' by their own standards.

(29,135 posts)I think many Nazis were driven by pathological levels of insecurity about everything. This is probably not an original observation. It makes sense to me that they would spend a lot of time idolizing the 'Aryan' 'look' as massive overcompensation for their own self-hatred.

(7,062 posts)1. Hitler never appeared to want sex. The word from his inner circle was that he was into depraved sex games involving getting urinated on. His niece killed herself after Hitler forced his exotic "tastes" onto her.
2. According to the article, Hitler knocked up the French girl -- who couldn't speak German nor he French, hmmm -- after a "tipsy" night. Hitler was a well-known teetotaler.
3. The military have Hitler's teeth and jaw bone, so a DNA test would be pretty easy.
4. He was far from an "accomplished" artist. The Art School he applied to turned him away with a brutally honest assessment of his talent . . . he didn't have any.
5. Can soldiers in the middle of battle just wander away from the lines and hang out with enemy civilians? Doesn't sound likely, does it.
6. On edit--blood type doesn't prove much either. Two parents with Type A blood can have an offspring with Type O blood, for instance.

"by 11 May 1945, the Soviets had already had Hitler's dentist, Hugo Blaschke, and his dential technician confirm the dental remains found were Hitler's and Braun's."
Yuri Andropov, fearing a neo-nazi shrine, had the remains crushed and thrown into a river.
So . . . I stand corrected. Apparently Hitler's earthly remains are forever gone.

(21,046 posts)There are several blood factors that are used to determine paternity. Five or six blood factors are used. The percentages of each, occurrence in a population, are added together to come up with 99.99 percent probability.
As you say, blood type itself is not an indicator of paternity. There are three alleles, A, B, and AB. O type is the absence of the other alleles. A, B and AB are dominant over O.

(7,062 posts)In 2008, the Belgian journalist Jean-Paul Mulders traveled to Germany, Austria, France and the United States to collect DNA of the Lorets and of the last living relatives of Hitler in Austria and on Long Island. By comparing this, Mulders claimed proof that Jean-Marie Loret was not the son of Adolf Hitler.
The results of his research were published in Het Laatste Nieuws[10], Belgium's largest newspaper.
