Sen. Tester Calls On Snowden To Return To America To ‘Face The Music’

Sen. Tester Calls On Snowden To Return To America To ‘Face The Music’

About a month after he argued that Edward Snowden's disclosure of top secret surveillance programs did not compromise national security and were actually helpful, Sen. Jon Tester (D-MT) said Wednesday that the 30-year-old former government contractor should return to the United States to "face the music."

"I think if Mr. Snowden thought what he did was right, he ought to come back and make his case in front of America's courts. And if he can make a case, the courts will treat him fairly, I have no doubt about that," Tester told MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell. "But the fact that he's asking for asylum indicates to me he knew what he was doing was wrong and it was improper. But the best scenario that could happen here is that he comes back to the United States, the country that he is a citizen of, and face the music and live with the circumstances that come out of a court decision."

In June, the Montana Democrat acknowledged that Snowden "probably shouldn't have done what he did" but expressed doubt that the revelations from the National Security Agency leaker jeopardized the safety of Americans.

"And quite frankly, it helps people like me become aware of a situation that I wasn't aware of before because I don't sit on that Intelligence Committee," Tester said at the time.

ain't never gonna come back to the USA and face the music. That's some stupid sounding shit right there.

Not unlike this stupid shit from former US Senator Gordon Humphey who emailed Snowden with ..

Mr. Snowden,

Provided you have not leaked information that would put in harms way any intelligence agent, I believe you have done the right thing in exposing what I regard as massive violation of the United States Constitution.

Having served in the United States Senate for twelve years as a member of the Foreign Relations Committee, the Armed Services Committee and the Judiciary Committee, I think I have a good grounding to reach my conclusion.

I wish you well in your efforts to secure asylum and encourage you to persevere.

Kindly acknowledge this message, so that I will know it reached you.

Regards,
Gordon J. Humphrey
Former United States Senator

This being Gordon Humphries..

CONCORD - Ovide Lamontagne should come clean about his anti-choice agenda as he accepts the endorsement of extreme anti-choice activist former U.S. Senator Gordon Humphrey, New Hampshire Democratic Party officials said today.

“Ovide Lamontagne supports an amendment to the constitution that would make abortion a crime in all cases, including rape and incest, and that would even criminalize some forms of birth control and fertility treatments,” said Collin Gately, spokesman for the New Hampshire Democratic Party. “But he has been trying to hide his extreme agenda, refusing to say where he stands on important issues like funding Planned Parenthood. It’s time for Ovide Lamontagne to be clear with the people of New Hampshire about his anti-choice views, and what those views would mean to their lives.”

As a U.S. Senator, Humphrey supported efforts to de-fund Planned Parenthood, even going against officials in the Reagan administration to further the effort. Humphrey even backed Operation Rescue Founder Randall Terry in his congressional campaign.

Already, the "Carter Option" is being discussed (obliquely threatened), as I predicted....the Russians will NOT like that--it will turn the Olympics from a profitable exercise into a money pit.

http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/world/2013/07/17/putin-snowden-russia-asylum/2523763/

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., told NBC News on Tuesday that the United States should consider boycotting the 2014 Winter Olympics, due to be held in Sochi, Russia, if Snowden is granted asylum in the nation.

"I love the Olympics, but I hate what the Russian government is doing throughout the world," he said.

And his "status is not clear" -- I think he's painted himself into a corner. I think he thought, by now, he'd be holding court in Iceland with his girlfriend by his side. I don't think he thought he'd be camping in an airport transit zone. Just shows that "computer geniuses" don't always follow politics in Iceland...this ain't Bobby Fischer's Iceland anymore....

http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/headlines/2013/07/putin-edward-snowden-asylum-status-unclear/

MOSCOW — Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the status of alleged NSA leaker Edward Snowden’s asylum request remains unclear, but said the 30-year-old former contractor is expected to leave his country “as soon as he has the chance.”
Putin, speaking to students, joked that Snowden was like a “Christmas gift” that had been temporarily held in a Moscow airport while on his way to his final destination.
As to what he thinks will happen next, Putin said, “Why should I know? It’s his life, his fate.”....Putin also today leveled an accusation that the U.S. “scared” other countries into denying Snowden entry, essentially locking him in “our territory.” Putin previously said that Snowden is welcome to stay in Russia, but only if he stops leaking information that “damages our U.S. partners.” Snowden said Friday that he doesn’t see what he’s doing as damaging to the U.S, adding he has no more classified information to leak. He has been charged in the U.S. with espionage.

though we know he'll say anything, and he's trying to save his own skin for his on your knees comments.

But they have to give Snowden some ongoing value so the Russians purchase the product.

I think that the main issue is Putin not wanting to look like he capitulated.

Maybe there's a plan in the works though.

And Obama's people have said "If that asshole is still hanging around your airport, don't look for BHO to come visit come September..."

I think Pootie wants the Little Leaker to be on his way. I think he probably knows what's in Snowden's laptops, so his utility has been diminished.

Snowden is a ball of yarn, Pootie is the cat. He's played with him, and he's had enough. Time to go attack a fly or a roll of toilet paper....

You are clueless, or demented if you think Edward Snowden would be treated fairly.

He should be given a medal, not punished by a corrupt power hungry government.

Tester can't even face the music. There was no justice for Trayvon, there would be none for Snowden.

But at least he admits Snowden opened his eyes about what's going on.

Of course, PS claims she knew everything about what was going on, so I guess Tester is next in her blue links lists of proofs that he is an idiot? Bwahahaha.
