WOW!! Activism and challenge to act?

I wasn't sure where to put this but it is an important yet brief admission that should go viral, especially for those who wear uniforms or participate in national security actions... and I thought it should be a topic for discussion on a broad spectrum. I personally have bee waiting for someone to come out and do this - for a very long time - and gain some momentum among the rest of the "troops". I do hope this gets some serious coverage.

I Hereby Resign in Protest Effective Immediately
by Brandon Toy

I have served the post-911 Military Industrial complex for 10 years, first as a soldier in Baghdad, and now as a defense contractor.

I have always believed that if every foot soldier threw down his rifle war would end. I hereby throw mine down.At the time of my enlistment, I believed in the cause. I was ignorant, naïve, and misled. The narrative, professed by the state, and echoed by the mainstream press, has proven false and criminal. We have become what I thought we were fighting against.

Some will say that I am being irresponsible, impractical, and irrational. Others will insist that I am crazy. I have come to believe that the true insanity is doing nothing. As long as we sit in comfort, turning a blind eye to the injustices of the world, nothing will change. It is even worse to play an active part, protesting all along that I am not the true criminal.

I was only a foot soldier, and am now a low level clerk. However, I have always believed that if every foot soldier threw down his rifle war would end. I hereby throw mine down.

That was truly awesome. I hope it starts a movement among those in uniform and those who are contracted to act in the "theater". And I hope many will do so publicly and en masse.

That would be a dream come true.

I have been blogging about this for years.

The enlisted men and women hold the power.

I tell anyone who will listen not to let their children, or grandchildren join the military.

They were lied to repeatedly.

They are facing a hard and brutal truth.

The betrayal must be devastating.

I support and admire all those who follow this path.

I noticed that. I was reluctant to post the whole article so I had to make up a title for the OP. Guess I don't have much name recognition or something. I never was a social draw. But the good news is that someone else who gets lots of attention on this site did post the whole article and it got lots of attention. It's why I don't bother logging in much when I have the time.

Even when I post a comment it doesn't get much notice so I get the idea that unless you're in the clique, it really isn't worth all that much to speak up. And sometimes I see someone else say the same thing I said and it gets lots of attention so...

Thanks for noticing.
