Russia's image to improve if Snowden gets refuge - Pushkov
Head of the Russian State Duma foreign affairs committee Alexei Pushkov thinks that by providing refuge to ex-CIA officer Edward Snowden Russia will join the list of countries advocating human rights and will be able to improve its image.
"Providing refuge to Snowden will have a positive influence on Russia's image. This will show that Russia has joined the human rights protection [activity] at the international level," Pushkov said.
Snowden filed an application for temporary asylum in Russia with the Federal Migration Service (FMS) on July 16.
Presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that Snowden's application would be processed by the FMS, not by the Kremlin.

1.15 July - Natalia Estemirova,[121] a human rights activist with Memorial, who worked with journalists from Novaya gazeta, especially Anna Politkovskaya, and occasionally published in the newspaper herself, having been a TV reporter pre-1999.
