Home to Jim Beam, a nice bourbon whiskey. And undoubtedly something that the gentlemen noted in post #4, below, are familiar with.

(12,132 posts)and the first half of second grade.
I remember Walter with warts in first grade and I remember getting my ass beat by crabby Mrs Ockerman in second grade for daring to write my name in cursive when "we haven't learned cursive yet!" (My mom taught me early how to read and write. Too bad mom sucked at math. I still don't know any of that shit.).
I lived in Florence, KY which is close to Cincinnati so when I was 6 years old my dad took me to my first MLB game. I remember getting a bat because it was bat day. I once got in a 7.5 second fight with Bobby Tolan's son at the playground at our apartments. He swung once and I swung once and nobody connected and our mom's snatched us up quick. I have no clue what the fight was about.
So I don't remember much and I still don't forgive Mrs. Ockerman but I'd like to visit again.

(3,469 posts)I've driven through there several times and visited there last August for a few days. A few years ago when we were driving through Kentucky we saw a sign that said Kentucky Folk Art Center and decided to make a quick stop to see it. What a find! We went back there this August and had more time to look around and it is so cool there. I could spend hours and hours in that place. If you're ever in that area (it's near Huntington, WV) check it out. I've mentioned before in these threads that occasionally, while traveling through red states, we find these amazingly progressive gems and I would put the Kentucky Folk Art Center at the top of that list. I love outsider art and this place has one of the most amazing collections I've ever seen.

(159 posts).....oddly enough the majority of the state I believe is very receptive to Democratic Party initiatives however on the national level they are hoodwinked by the patriotic jingoism of the Republican Party.....much of the landmarked history of KY has already been destroyed.....Heck the UK basketball dormitory is bought and paid for w/ coal money as well is the title of the building......The bluedogs control the Democratic machine and the radio is inundated with RW bullshit.....again it's a love/hate relationship for me.....lol
