Harry Reid finally got a victory. Coincidentally, it was at the same time he showed sign of a backbone. But, he was careful not to crow too loudly.
The big loser in today's compromise was Mitch McConnell, alias 'The Turtle". John McCain sided with Reid and several Republicans went along with him. Reid had stopped trying to deal with McConnell and had turned to McCain.
It will be difficult for McConnell to spin this one for the folks back home. If McConnell loses to Grimes, John McCain will be in the running for McConnell's present leadership position in the Senate. He may end up Majority Leader, if the Democrats cannot hold on in the mid-elections?
If there was any bad blood between McConnell and McCain, it just got worse. However, McConnell is a loser and nothing will ever get done with him in charge. At least, there is the possibility of working with McCain if he is the new Leader.
I can imagine what smoke coming out of your ears looks like...

(602 posts)McCain evokes laughs, snorts and sometimes respect.
McTurtleFace evokes disgust and retching, every time.
Fingers are crossed...
