Santorum does better among Evangelical protestants than with Catholics,

despite wearing his conservative Catholic faith on his sleeve.

Catholic Republicans are no more likely to support him than members of any other religion.

Nor has he demonstrated any particular appeal to Catholics, despite his own strong Catholic faith. In each state in which there were enough Catholics to measure, Santorum's performance among those voters lagged behind his showing with evangelical Christians. So far Santorum's share of the Catholic vote has exceeded his overall vote total only in Nevada, and that by only three percentage points, a statistically trivial difference.

Not sure how the Baptists are going to take that.

4. No, these were based on results from the primaries, not old polls.

And he was talking about mainline Protestants having left the "Christian world" -- not Evangelicals.

6. It would really be good to exit poll on this in the next primaries.

Q: Were you influenced by learning that Protestantism (other than Evangelical) has been taken over by Satan?

Q: If your answer is yes, were you more or less likely to vote "Ricky?"

My dear friend, the good Dr and Reverend Ron Degges, once said to me.."Baptists aren't Protestant. Because to be a technical Protestant you must derive your religious linage from Martin Luther.

Not like those Anglicans who had that dust up about divorce.

He had actually met Benny the Rat when Ratzinger lectured at Harvard. "His view of Christ and my view.... don't match."

He also told me what "Trinitarian" means. That you believe that the godhead is three gods, like Catholics do. I said then that means they believe in four gods... the old god, the young god, the bad god(Satan), and the pigeon god.

My friend laughed and I miss him so much.

8. Other than sexual prudery, I don't see that he "gets" the Catholic social teaching.

Juan Cole pointed out several bits and pieces of Catholic social teaching that have gone right over his head:

I'd refer Republicans to the above linked post when they consider what kind of Catholic Paul Ryan is too, though Ryan doesn't claim superior sexual self-control like Santorum does.

Catholic social teaching is something that Santorum, Ryan and Newt don't seem to fathom at all.

The dignity of workers, for example, totally eludes all of them. See papal encyclical link:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rerum_Novarum

I don't see any of them as actual Catholics without having a deep rooted understanding of that dignity.
