Marta and I spent most of Friday with Madison. We took her to "Despicable Me 2", lunch, and shopping. I took Saturday off and took Madison to the once a year annual train museum event. One ticket is good for all five locations. Shuttle buses are provided. Two Locations in Omaha, Three across the river in Council Bluffs, IA.
The museums.
Omaha.
http://www.lauritzengardens.org/ One of the few BIG BOY steam locomotives left in the world sits on a hill above I-80. The yellow Centenial is the largest diesel engine ever built. It has a huge garden scale train layout.
http://www.durhammuseum.org/ Is housed in the old Union Pacific passenger depot.
Council Bluffs.
http://www.uprrmuseum.org/ Housed in the old CB library.
http://www.thehistoricalsociety.org/depot.htm This is where I took the photo of Madison in the steam engine cab of "Old 814". It is at the Rock Island Depot.
http://www.dodgehouse.org/ It was getting late. It was hot. We skipped this stop.
In all Madison rode on the train on wheels in photo 2. She rode in a tram. She rode in two different wheeled trollies and a golf cart. Trollies ran between the CB sites. School buses went between the Omaha locations and the two river crossings.
So I have been very busy the last week and kind of quiet for me. I'm off tomorrow with a full schedule. I have plans the next two nights. So it will be Thursday before I really get to post, reply, etc.
Good night all,
