George Zimmerman’s Old MySpace Surfaces: Full of Racist Statements, Admissions of Criminal Activity

Huffington Post’s Gene Demby seems to have dug up an old MySpace page belonging to George Zimmerman, the man who shot and killed Trayvon Martin and is charged with his murder, makes disparaging comments about Mexicans and details his response to a criminal case against him in 2005.

The page was first made public by the Miami Herald. Zimmerman’s lawyer, Mark O’Mara, confirmed that the page is George Zimmerman’s MySpace, but has been unused for years.

On Zimmerman’s legal defense fund website, his lawyers admit that the page “will cast Mr. Zimmerman in a less-than-favorable light especially considering the charges he faces.”

“In that regard, it is possible that the statements Mr. Zimmerman made could be used as part of the trial, and therefore it is our policy not to comment directly on items that could become evidence,” the site read. The statement also indicated that the social media accounts of “all the parties” involved might come under scrutiny, and may be introduced at the trial as evidence.

Photos on Zimmerman’s MySpace page show Zimmerman, who calls himself “Joe G.,” with groups of friends. In his biographical blurb, he discusses things he doesn’t miss about his former home in Manassas, Virginia:

I had wondered the same, since it seemed that the prosecutors were forced into having Zimmerman charged and then had to try him.

I thought that the prosecution and judge may be in bed with the police or vice versa.

one on purpose. One of the reasons given was the can of worms a guilty verdict would have opened because of prior cases on both sides; whites that had killed blacks & were found not guilty and blacks that had killed whites & were found guilty. they were saying the black people in jail would have filed appeal after appeal & the State of Florida would go broke retrying the cases. 99% of the Latinos I encountered (where I knew their ethnicity) were of Mexican nationality. Frankly, I know a greater proportion of Latinos here than I did there, over there, they tended to keep to other Spanish-speaking people. I did date a woman who was half Mexican and half Apache, and it was during that time (20 years ago) that I knew the most Latinos in the NW.

Here, many Latino folks are pretty friendly. I know several regulars at the corner bar (a Mexican-Irish place!) and am sociable with many at work. Like I said, they tell me things...

Sanford Florida identify a gang that uses Hoodies as their symbols or sign of being in a gang? Why would detective Serino associate Martin's clothing related to a gang in Sanford Florida when he told the FBI that? What gang was he talking about? Why would Zimmerman profile Martin off his clothes or what he was wearing? Serino is a detective and has a lot of information about gangs. I just don't know where Zimmerman would have got that information. It just makes me suspicious, because it would be a good excuse against racial profiling to say clothing instead.

Would have been as simple as driving him to the hospital and giving them a kit (or a list of item of bodily specimens to collect), to get the evidence on GZ's body, photos of the injuriies, blood tests for drugs/alcohol,you know... I didn't watch a lot of the trial, but what I did watch indicated a really shoddy job on the prosecution's part. They were forced into taking the case, and from the looks of it, either didn't do their homework or intentionally avoided the racial angle as much as possible.

In a criminal case the prosecution cannot bring up anything that is not deemed by the judge to be directly related the the charge. This is the reason why the prosecutor cannot bring up previous arrests and convictions for burglary when someone in being tried for burglary.
