So I am checking out at Walgreen's. The clerk asks me if I want to donate a dollar for heart disease. They used to name the organization involved when they ask more $$$$ and now just name the dis-ease. So I said 'no thanks' and she had a sour look on her face. I don't know what was thinking: either that I am a raging asswipe for not wanting to help the world discover the cure to heart dis-ease or if it was simply that she wanted to garner the most money of all the clerks. So I asked her where the money goes to and she says she doesn't know; she just collects the donations. I looked on the wall where the info was: it was for 'early detection' and something else. I told her that people just need to eat better diets.
When she handed me my purchase, I thanked her. She didn't say a word and looked down at what she was reading.

(115,869 posts)why did you feel it was necessary to make a snarky remark about eating better diets? Because heredity has a significant role in heart disease, some people end up with it regardless of their careful, sensible diet; some people eat crap all their lives and never get it. Wasn't it sufficient to just say, "Sorry, I only donate to charities I know something about," and leave it at that?
OOPS! Never mind. It appears the OP is no longer with us.

(53,410 posts)I try to keep up with the new DU3 stuff but I'm not always successful. Is there a tombstone notification somewhere?
