All you have to do is pick a fight with someone, let them hit you a few times, then shoot them dead. Doesn't matter if you're bigger than the other person, or if they haven't actually injured you. As long as you claim that you were afraid for your life, you're allowed to kill.

This is how the law is written. All a person needs to justify use of deadly force is the reasonable belief that such force is necessary to prevent great bodily harm.
This is why the extend of Zimmerman's injuries is basically meaningless. He could have no injuries and still be justified if he had reasonable belief of great bodily harm. Experiencing an injury is not a prerequisite to self-defense.
