The sickness of the NRA and others pushing for "Stand Your Ground" type laws.

Oh, and gun nuts, before you start squealing, I know that SYG wasn't invoked in this case. What mattered here is the fact that in FL apparently the burden of proof for an affirmative defense like self-defense is "reasonable doubt" unlike in more civilized states, where the burden shifts in varying degrees to the defendant to prove self-defense. And, yeah, being a (former) Texan, I probably shouldn't be talking about civilized states...

Anyway, put yourself in the mindset of someone who looks at the US and thinks, "you know, what we really need to do is make it easier to kill people in self-defense". Seriously, what kind of twisted human being thinks that?

I know that, personally, I'm going to avoid any kind of physical fight at all costs, and if I get involved in a fight, I'm going to avoid killing anyone at all costs. And in the highly unlikely scenario that I actually kill someone in self-defense, it's going to be completely obvious that it's self defense, that I'm not going to need to "push the envelope" of what's legal and what's not.

The "Stand Your Ground" stuff is purely for wannabe vigilante gun heros. It's truly sick.
