The NAACP wants him to. Do you think he'll heed the call?
NAACP Chairman Roslyn M. Brock:
Today, justice failed Trayvon Martin and his family, said Roslyn M. Brock, Chairman of the NAACP. We call immediately for the Justice Department to conduct an investigation into the civil rights violations committed against Trayvon Martin. This case has re-energized the movement to end racial profiling in the United States.
NAACP President Benjamin Todd Jealous:
We are outraged and heartbroken over todays verdict, said Benjamin Todd Jealous, President and CEO of the NAACP. We stand with Trayvons family and we are called to act. We will pursue civil rights charges with the Department of Justice, we will continue to fight for the removal of Stand Your Ground laws in every state, and we will not rest until racial profiling in all its forms is outlawed.
NAACP Florida State Conference President Adora Obi Nweze:
We lost a young man due to senseless violence, but justice did not prevail, said Adora Obi Nweze, President of the Florida NAACP State Conference. Last year we pushed for the arrest of George Zimmerman and a thorough investigation and trial. Today, we are still called to act. No one should be allowed to use this law to commit a senseless crime again.

I have zero faith that he will. While he might be better than Gonzo and Ashcroft, he isn't better by much. His record has been pretty shitty. I think they'll figure the trial happened. The jury spoke. People should now just move on. Case closed.

OP
As to the civil suit, there is a value in it. It will force Zimmo to testify.

Yes but the Martin family will have to pay for the lawyers or depend on pro bono help.

I believe Holder has made a statement that they will look at it and apply the law.

(48,181 posts)1. My guess is nope.
Also as Zimmerman is not rich, there is no money in a civil suit like the one oj got nailed with. The situation is just sad and fucked up.

I think a lot of people want to hear that man speak and tell the story.

In the OJ case lawyers were lined up for a shot at 1/3 of his money.

Enough evidence to justify hate crime, and this one's carrying a needle.

FBI is already on record as saying that they didn't find any racial component in the shooting.
That said, Holder apparently commented in April that they are doing a parallel investigation into the murder.

FBI agents investigating whether race was a factor in the shooting spoke with Sanford police officers, Zimmerman's bosses and colleagues, friends, neighbors and others to determine if he had ever shown any racial prejudice.
