Did Angela Corey Throw the Zimmerman Case?

I understand some at DU had their doubts, during the George Zimmerman case, that the Sanford prosecutors were throwing the case. I did not think they were throwing the case, but now with all the questions being asked I wonder if Corey threw the case. A number of legal professionals and TV comentators are scratching their heads and asking why certain things were done during the case and why certain other things were not done.

This morning Lisa Bloom, while making an appearance on the Melissa Harris-Perry show, pointed out that the prosecutors fought to get certain evidence in, but then failed to use the evidence (I forgot what the evidence was that she mentioned). At that the show host, Melissa Harris-Perry stated that she felt that at about that point in the case there was a shift in the way the prosecution was handling the case. Harris-Perry than asked one of her guests if they felt the same way. The guest replied that he did fell the same way.

Angela Corey is at least a conservative Republican and may be a Tea Party Republican. Is it possible that she directed the men under her to do things that would destroy the prosecution's case?

What's the deal with the black frilly frock? She was just so pleased that they lost, it was impossible for her to conceal her glee.

Florida is screwed up by the crazy Republicans and Tea Baggers who are running that state. Florida isn't the only state being screwed by these people right now.

Wake the f*ck up, America and vote these people OUT! I would hope there's not a single black, female, gay, or any other person impacted by the GOP that fails to vote in upcoming elections. We need to get started now, by making sure EVERYONE has the I.D. or whatever the hell it is they need to vote in states where the Republicans don't want anyone other than white conservatives to vote, and that they're registered to vote and have a way to get to the polls on election day.

2. The presentation of evidence was totally inept, in my opinion.

There is a saying, never attribute to malice what can be explained by incompetence, but based on what I have heard about the case, the level of incompetence here defies belief.

I belief the prosecution team deliberately failed to present the evidence competently.

And we all have been PUNKED. From the day she took the case appointment by Gov. Scott. I myself believe even the jury was a planned plant.

like retiring to work at a conservative think-tank/ foundation, maybe taking an impromptu european tour to visit some of Lucerne's finest banking centers, or having an extended cruise to the Cayman Islands.

is that they will be rewarded for their lack of ethics. They have jumped on the gravy train that the Koch machine and their ilk can provide.

opine about the lackluster job the prosecutors were doing. I think the state brought the case to avoid bad press and possible huge demon stations throughout the state, and so not to look like backwater hicks to the rest of the nations. But I also feel they didn't try their hardest to win the case

It's not good for them. They have at least that motivation to do well.

Then again, the DA held off for weeks before bringing charges. The two options that come to mind are that they didn't think they could win so they weren't going to prosecute; they didn't want to win, so they dawdled.

The two would look pretty much the same and have the same outcome.

Agree. The only one who cares about their W/L record is themselves and their boss. If their boss didn't want to pursue the case to begin with, she's not going to care they lost. It was all for show.

Her body language and tone during the post decision media brief radiated nothing but frustration and anger that she had lost.

It is personally and professionally embarrassing for her.

But a lot of this depends on how you regard the person you're viewing and cultural norms.

I've watched a person speaking and compared notes with others. We come away with different views. The most reliable view is usually from somebody that shares culture and background and has no reason to take sides.

It's a standard trope, for instance, on why African-Americans, esp. males, are treated disparately in the US public schools. They have one way of interacting with people. The teachers, typically white and middle class or trained in classroom culture, have another (and in most jurisdictions, principals need to have so many years in the classroom). Guess who makes and enforces the rules, whose viewpoint is considered to be the proper standard?

There's a mess of psych and psycholing research on this, too.

but it seemed to the judge that they were were trying to impeach Pollock and Lee, which is not allowed in the rebuttal.

I'm not sure why they didn't bring the cop that Zimmerman assaulted, as they had planned.
