My wife has lost faith in America From the "two party" political system To the justice system and

even the American people in general.

She is sick to death about the Zimmerman Not Guilty verdict. In Her mind she asking-- How could those jurors not at least convicted Zimmerman of manslaughter?

She no longer wants to vote... We saw some underhanded B. S. during the last election that left a completely disillusioned with politics. She feels politicians (for the most part there are a handful that aren't) are working only for Corporate America and Uber rich. She held out hope that even though the justice system in many areas seems to be working to fill the for profit prison system she honestly thought the judicial branch still had some good in it. But between her jury duty--allowing her to understand and see how the laws are written and now this verdict she is just so disillusioned with this country.

What do I do? Try and snap her out of it or let her go through this "phase" and see if she snaps out of it?

She may want to post for herself. I think that would be a good start.

I feel the same way she does, and every other working American should feel the same way. We are under attack, and it's bigger than politics.

You've posted about your wife's views, what are yours?

So I'm not saying it's ok if she doesn't want to vote.

But the rest of it, her recognition that something is terribly wrong, is the first step to doing something. We must all get involved, not give up, in spite of feeling overwhelmed and angry.

system. I generally wasn't as aware of things before we got married. This is kind of shaking me because I never saw her feeling like this. She'd always said the American system isn't perfect but the Founding Fathers had always been her heroes now she wish they hadn't created this system.

Why bother to even vote we all lose no matter who is in office but then again I say to myself that is actually what republicans are praying for us to do. So now I feel that we must brush ourselves off and get back to vote for our rights for EVERYONE not just a few. So we must fight for Trayvon and all people of good will. VOTE is the best revenge folks. Vote for Trayvon who won't be able to vote anymore. Vote for your children and grandchildren to make a better world.

So, I don't know what to say.

When she finds a person of integrity she'll vote for them. She's just mad, now. But, she's sick of voting for B.S. I don't blame her.

If she can't find a person of integrity to vote for...then she shouldn't waste her vote on crap.

Whether it makes a difference or not, is it really so much work just to vote every couple of years?

And those who can vote but won't, have no right to complain about our civil life afterward imo. Sure people do it, but I for one won't listen to it.

We shouldn't be voting our attitudes, either. We should be voting smart, meaning strategically, as best we can. What you learn after living a long while is to not believe the voices that want you to give up. That is propaganda, and it is not in your interest.

Steering this big ship we call democracy is OUR RESPONSIBILITY. It is our responsibility to at least be informed and do what we can, at least try.

That should tell you something about what she (and you) could do. And it doesn't mean crawling into a hole and pulling the dirt in over you. Organize and fight back.
