Victoria Nourse, former nominee for the 7th Circuit
Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: Ron Johnson "filibuster" of Nourse nomination to federal bench draws fire
Republican Sen. Ron Johnsons decision to block the judicial nomination of a University of Wisconsin law professor has drawn a pointed letter of protest from a group of legal academics around the country.

Nourse was the author of the Violence Against Women Act, which unbelievably the Republicans are also attempting to kill:
Huffington Post: Violence Against Women Act Becomes Partisan Issue

(18,373 posts)WASHINGTON -- A Republican state legislator in Georgia doesn't like the term rape "victim." In fact, he has introduced a bill mandating that state criminal codes refer to these people as, simply, "accusers" -- until there's a conviction in the matter.

But victims of other less serious/violent crimes would still be called victims.
