At some point weeks or months down the road , we may here from someone on the jury. I would love to hear about what they thought the evidence was to free GZ.

(63,645 posts)...in the United States you don't need evidence to free someone. You need evidence to convict someone.

I bet they all had agents and publishers doing their best to find out who they are.
Should jurors be allowed to profit from jury duty? Could that prospect influence their decision making process- say they know that a decision will be looked on more favorably by a group with more money to buy a book?

(6,324 posts)The OJ Simpson trial, the Scott Peterson trial, and at least one juror from the Casey anthony trial has signed a deal for a book.
I have been called for jury duty twice, once when I was still a deputy once after, but defense attorneys hate a cop or ex cop on a jury so I always get dismissed.

(55,012 posts)still, that is a pretty small sample - 2 and one deal? doesn't seem to be a trend, really. I think most people take being on a jury pretty seriously and are not in it for fame or fortune.
But if you are offered a million or so for a book, it would be hard to turn down.
And you know every publisher is doing their best to track down the jurors and be first, they likely even have ghost writers lined up.
Go in, interview, have ghost writer work, let juror tweak, edit and off to the presses.

(31,518 posts)they did not look at GZ. When they delivered the verdict when they were polled, when they left the courtroom they did not look at GZ.
I wouldn't be surprised, if they speak, to find out that within the guidelines given to the jury, the prosecution failed to prove their case.
I don't know how they came to this verdict, but it's scared the hell out of me. If an armed person can stalk and confront an unarmed person and then, when the unarmed person tried to defend himself, shoot and kill that person without repercussions, we should all be scared.

(10,942 posts)than a cop has a right to self defense? As the Florida law now stands, a person can lure a second person into defending himself or herself, then kill the second person and claim that the killing was justified due to fear for life.

(2,068 posts)The hate towards them and anything that was not anti-Zimmy will effect them too. I suspect they will either show up on TV with their names and faces hidden or submit written stories. This case became a media shit storm and anyone in the corss hairs will probably face harassment, no matter the side.
