I was reading the foreign press this morning. I tend to do that, English language only since my Spanish isn't good enough to try and get more than the vaguest outline of Spanish Language stories. When I came across this story. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2362684/Prince-Harry-witness-war-crime-US-opened-Afghan-goat-herders.html
According to the story, Prince Harry's unit in Afghanistan witnessed Americans engage and kill unarmed shepherds who were tending their flock. They were not a threat to the troops, and taking no aggressive action. According to the story, Prince Harry was not amused by this event.
The shocking incident, which was confirmed last night by the Ministry of Defence, triggered a war crimes investigation by US military police.
It took place on Harrys first frontline tour of Afghanistan, which, until today, has been shrouded in secrecy.
Apparently some units of ours were trying out the Soviet answer in Afghanistan. If you kill everyone, there isn't anyone left to oppose you.
BTW other than this linked story, there is no mention of Task Force 32 and war crimes. You would think someone would have said something about such a horrific incident.

(3,891 posts)Not really related, but about the same subject, Prince Harry. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/prince-harry/10108456/Prince-Harry-saved-gay-soldier-from-homophobic-attack.html
Prince Harry had a tank at a war game in Canada. One of his tank crewmembers was gay, and had just recently come out. When threatened with bodily harm from other soldiers, ran and hid in the tank. When he explained what was going on, Prince Harry refused to allow the harassment to continue.
Trooper Wharton went to find the Prince and tearfully told him "I think I'm going to be murdered by the infantry, the Mail on Sunday reported.
As he explained what had happened Harry had a complete look of bewilderment on his face and responded: Right I'm going to sort this ---- out once and for all."
Harry not only sorted it out once and for all, (granted that's a little easier when you're the grandson of the Monarch serving in the ROYAL Army.) but genuinely showed interest in the young man, asking questions about his life, and was by all accounts as open minded as the Rethugs are closed minded.
I've never met the Prince, and I don't think I ever will, we don't travel in circles that would intersect. However, I will admit that from what I've learned, a few personal peccadillos aside (Yes, I know about the Nazi uniform at the costume party, and the womanizing, and the drunken benders) when the pressure is on, he seems to do the right thing when it counts. More than could be said about a vast majority of the children of our ruling class. (Yes I know, Joe Biden's son is serving. There is an exception to most generalized statements, go with it on this one.)
