Does anyone remember seeing this old house in Kansas City, Kansas?

I took the picture at least 23 years ago. I don't remember exactly where the house was but it appeared to be abandoned, at the time. Maybe it's not there anymore. I wish I knew. There's something eerie, desolate, about the place. It must have stories. I wonder who built it.

I've wondered about it, over the years. If the walls could talk, they might tell some amazing stories. I hope that the renovation retains the spirit of the home.

I live on the Missouri side of the state line in Kansas City but found the house with a google images search for "historic kansas city kansas house". Looks like a cool (and scary) place!

It's just a textbook classic work of 1800s architecture. I'm glad Sauer Castle still stands and I hope to go back and see it someday. Maybe the restoration will be completed by then.

I'm willing to bet there are all kinds of buttons, suspender clips, belt buckles, shoe straps, toys, gas doodads, and on and on.
Although the coins would be nice.

...the Bates Motel

When I returned to where I grew up, they were bulldozing the beautiful ranch at the end of my old street. They trained quarterhorses there, and it had been owned by Harry James and Betty Grable. It was surrounded by white fences and eucalyptus trees...

Larer, I saw what they put in its place--tacky Spanish-style stucco homes.

Stories like yours, of preservation, warm the cookies of my heart.
