Do you really believe that if the roles were reversed, Trayvon Martin would have been acquitted?

Moreover, what's "inflammatory" about asking others to put the shoe on the other foot?

but for some reason, I don't now.

Sad America. Shame on Florida. Shame on the jurors. Shame on the stupidity that has taken over this country.

The Jury can't rewrite a law that makes it lawful to strap on a firearm and patrol public places.

this trial included that law you are referring to. But the real tragedy is that he was acquitted "without" that law as a consideration. It had no bearing on this case and was excluded.

The stand your ground law is repugnant to all thinking, social human beings but it seems that is not low enough for this jury and American justice in general.

Here is how it came into play. SYG made Zimmerman's behavior “lawful” under Florida's self-defense law. If it hadn't passed the prosecution could have successfully argued that it was not reasonable for a citizen to patrol their neighborhood with a firearm. They then could have made a lot of hay about the police telling him at the Neighborhood watch meeting not to carry a firearm. They would have had a very good chance of convincing the jury that Zimmerman was acting recklessly when he decided to patrol his neighborhood with a firearm and that he was responsible for Martin's death.

I suspect this is why the prosecution stretched and went for the Second Degree Murder charge. They didn’t want the trial to turn on how could his conduct be reckless when it is spelled out in Florida law that it isn’t.

Furthermore, I have no doubt if law had never passed Zimmerman wouldn’t have been patrolling his neighborhood with a firearm in the first place.
