Nights like this make me thankful Obama is President

Yes, the right wing racists are out celebrating tonight, but who gives a fuck about them. The thing that drives them absolutely bonkers is not Trayvon, it's Obama.

No matter how much they celebrate and pop champagne, they still will go to bed tonight knowing an African American is in the White House.

Trayvon, you will not be forgotten.

That is all.

The bile that's spewing on the local online news threads included a taunt "Haha, Obama!!!"

You're right; he's been driving them nuts and will continue to do so.

And karma will eventually catch up as their paranoid poster boy becomes a pariah.

"The President of the United States is STILL a black man. Choke on that."

The knowledge that this reminder fills them with impotent rage makes me feel a lot better.

I should include some description of Presidential security and how Presidents are incredibly harder to kill today than 50 years ago.

Nah, no need. It's implicit.

A child was just found guilty at the trial of the man who murdered him. The president has nothing to give one way or another on this subject. And no matter how much the baggers are pissed about Obama, they - including many of our "esteemed" posters right here on DU - are going ot bed with a smile on their face, knowing "I wuz skurred!" is now a valid defense to kill a black person.

Their satisfaction with this verdict, and their support for that useless blob on trial is at least partially fueled by their rage over having a black president. I'm only surmising, but I'm pretty sure, just as we feel glad Obama is president at this awful moment, they are celebrating his symbolic assassination, which is this crime and this verdict.

We will overcome someday.

Obviously, this is a tragedy," he said. "I can only imagine what these parents are going through, and when I think about this boy, I think about my own kids, and I think every parent in America should be able to understand why it is absolutely imperative that we investigate every aspect of this, and that everybody pulls together -- federal, state and local -- to figure out exactly how this tragedy happened."

But my emotions last night gave me insight
into how quickly stuff can go wrong. I had
an urge to go over and scream at them.

They're really nice people, and I barely know
them. And I'm a nice person. And we might
have started a war for no good reason.

This time reminds me of when Bush was
elected, how painful that was, especially to
see his supporters smiling. I can not stomach
seeing a photo of Zimmerman right now.

In human societies, there really is no room for these demographics, except for the egg-headed statisticians who keep track of this stuff for their own jollies!

but judging how it affected me, simply because
I'm a human being? it probably has affected him
and his whole family a great deal.

But he probably can't say anything publicly,
because after all this was a jury decision.
