I'm In An Argument With A Right-Winger Right Now On Facebook About The Case....

He is saying that George Zimmerman had the right to defend himself, and made the ridiculous claim that Trayvon was "looking in houses."

Ordinarily, I would not bother to argue with stupidity, but tonight, I have realized that some of these people need to have their ass handed to them.

And this is an issue where stupidity needs to be corrected.

We are pretty cordial throughout our debates though...

Usually, I wouldn't even comment, but tonight, I had too.

Martin was walking home. 17-year-old kid armed only with Skittles.

Zimmerman followed him and against 911 operators advice, confronted him. Martin was the aggressor. Martin brought a *gun* into the equation and then killed an unarmed kid.

If Zimmerman had not followed and stalked this innocent kid, Trayvon Martin would be alive. Trayvon Marrtin did nothing wrong, and he should be alive.

Zimmerman caused this. Pretty simple.

that indicated Trayvon was "looking in windows" or anything else that was unlawful. There was not even any testimony that clearly showed who threw the first punch in the altercation that took place between Trayvon and George.

My sister-in-law posted a link to a Fox News story on FB regarding the verdict with her comment, "Thank God." I am not even going to comment to her at all. It is a waste of time and energy. These people have their minds firmly made up. Nothing you say will change their minds or their hearts. It is sad for me to say this about my own relative who I love and care about. But sometimes you just have to admit defeat and move on.

No one has ever made the claim that Trayvon was engaged in any criminal activity that night when George Zimmerman saw him and called the police. Trayvon was simply hanging out. The reason Zimmerman called the police in the first place is that he did not recognize Trayvon but thought Trayvon superficially fit the profile of previous burglars in the area. The fact that Trayvon was alone and seemed to be hanging around without walking purposefully in some direction was also "suspicious" to Zimmerman.

This was clearly a case of profiling Trayvon.

Facebook is worse than yahoo answers for allowing racist shitbags.

No question about it, this wasnt about DU... changing the world.

One of them is made up of people I actually know, and the other is made up of strangers that want me to think they are politically aligned with my beliefs. When it comes to trusting people to say what they mean, I'll go with FB every day of the week, and twice on Sundays, even if it isn't a big comfy echo chamber. Maybe you just have too many friends that are racist shitbags in real life. We are the company we keep, you know. And I'll use smileys when and where I see fit, thank you very much!

I'm talking about PUBLIC posts on facebook.. not my "facebook friends" do you even know how facebook works?

take a look at the comments, defend them as "better than DU" go ahead.

...and then you go and accuse me of "Maybe you just have too many friends that are racist shitbags in real life"

at least you decided not to use a rofl waffle.

I have nothing more to say to you.
