She is speculating of course. She's probably right, but I wouldn't mind seeing egg on her face.

Casey Anthony nearly ruined her.

(5,455 posts)If that is how the jury instructions read, then it is a reasonable theory that the jury has tossed Murder 2 and has worked down to manslaughter due to the jury asking for clarification on the definition of manslaughter.

(102,283 posts)that it might be nice to hear at least one pundit in the Martin camp. She had some highly theatrical asshole RWer defense lawyer on with her and I thought I'd lose it before I could find the remote.
Even when she is saying something with which I agree, she just drives me NUTS.

(22,541 posts)Saw through it right away. I was actually impressed with her the 2 days I had to watch CNN. Except on the gun. She doesn't know the weapon he used and shouldn't have commented on it. Number one rule is do your research on the weapon or stay quiet. If not, it'll bite you in the ass.
But on the common sense of the crime, she figured out the lies immediately and why Zimmerman told them. She also has a good handle on thinking like a defense attorney so knowing how a prosecutor should counter. She still drives me nuts but she's not as bad as I thought before.

(25,183 posts)It seems apparent that it is the only charge being focused on. If all six jurors thought this was a target-practice slaying, as many here seem to regard it, they wouldn't have made that request. Even if a majority thought that, I doubt that they'd be asking for manslaughter instructions to convince the one or two "minority report" jurors to come along with them.
My take on this? Five of them buy the self-defense thing, and they're asking for manslaughter instructions to convince the sixth one that self-defense applies in the case of that charge, too. I hope that their names never ever come out, because I want them to be safe no matter what they decide, but if I have to speculate right now about what might come out, it would seem that there is a younger juror (displayed emotion whenever TM's pictures were shown) who might be under target for "convincing" by the other five.
Hung jury? Possibly, if she holds out. However, given the time, expense, and angst that have accompanied this trial, it wouldn't surprise me to hear the judge say, "We've spent an awful lot on this. I could randomly pull your juror numbers out of a hat, and replace half of you with three of the four alternates who heard the very same things you did. Now, get back in there and come up with unanimity, so we know which way to go on this from here on in."

(25,183 posts)based on what little I've read about juror reactions to the trial. It seems that there is one younger woman in her twenties who has displayed the most reaction to the most unsettling parts of the trial. I could be wrong, and we may never know, but that's my call with what little I have to go on at this point.

(14,157 posts)When you are young, 17 seems to be just about an adult. My children are 19 and 16, I think of them as a kids. The bigger age gap, the more the person will think of the 17 year old as a child. (in my opinion)

(25,183 posts)but on the other hand, both TM and GZ are "kids" to her, and if she bought any of that "scary tall black man" stuff that O'Mara was pitching in his closing argument, then you can't count on her motherly instincts to kick in for Trayvon.
O'Mara did his very best to cast TM as an "other". I'd say that older white folks (lived through the Sixties riots) are far more susceptible to that line than are younger white women.
