Has the Republican Party has become the American Taliban?

I remember when a woman couldn't get a credit card without her father or husband signing for her (Sears was one of the last large store chains to end that policy and to this day I have neither a Sears credit card nor do I shop there). I remember when a pregnant woman was not permitted to work in most places once it was known she was pregnant (and there was no paid maternity leave). I remember when the job opportunities for educated women where teacher, secretary, or nurse. I remember when birth control was abstinence or condoms and there were no birth control pills. I remember before Roe v. Wade when women routinely died or were maimed for life by dirty backstreet abortions and those with access through wealth or who they knew had D & Cs and everyone just looked the other way and winked. We HAVE come a long way, Baby!

Now, the latest Republican Party attack on women: When pulling together a panel for a Congressional hearing on birth control, Rep. Darrell Issa, the House Oversight Committee Chairman, turned away the sole female voice that would have been heard:

“As the hearing is not about reproductive rights and contraception but instead about the Administration’s actions as they relate to freedom of religion and conscience, he believes that Ms. Fluke is not an appropriate witness.”

When is enough enough?

Can anyone explain to me how the GOP thinks this is a winning strategy?

Edited to add the above question.

We should put that in writing whenever we can.

Might be hard to top the Frothing Santorum google hit but worth an effort. Seeing as the media is completely useless in alerting what the fuck is going down, I guess we can do what we can from here.
