CEO Pay Went Up 16% Last Year -- How Much Did Your Pay Go Up?

http://www.alternet.org/ceo-pay-went-16-last-year-how-much-did-your-pay-go

Congratulations CEOs! You've been having a great time of it. Salaries are up, and up in a major way. The Economic Policy Institute says you brought home an average $14.1m in 2012. The New York Times, looking at slightly different numbers, claims the news is even better, saying the median number is $15.1m. That's a 16% increase in one year.

As for the rest of us … well, about that.

The money for our bosses has to come from somewhere, doesn't it? Here's one place it likely originated: us.

According to the Department of Labor Statistics, hourly wages plunged by a record-breaking 3.8% in the first quarter of 2013.

These are more than just numbers. This pay disparity is having an increasingly corrosive effect, leaving us governed by and lectured to by an elite that seems out-of-touch with the lives of everyone else.

The last person that I know that got a raise of 50 cents/hr then got his hours cut by 6 hours a week, so he ended up with net decrease in pay.

Me? I lost my job due to needing a joint replacement and not having health insurance. You see... the owner of the company I worked for couldnt manage to offer insurance at an affordable price. Cant really blame him though, he has several houses to pay for. And gawd knows his villa in Greece cant be cheap.

on edit: I DID get a whole 23 cent raise at my last yearly review though. woohoo!

Now I get to hope for medicaid to deem me worthy enough to have my life back. Lucky me! Being at the mercy of the gov't for my future is SO fun, just like the repubs say!

Its a side of corporate greed I never thought about until I had to live it. These bastards disgust me.

...(partnership, self-employed small business), and our salaries went down -- because our customers have thinned out. We aren't even earning the median US income. If it weren't for my husband's military pension we'd be officially living in poverty. And if we lose our business we'd be up shit's creek...

It's the high flying international corporate execs who are doing all the earning, yep, much of it at the expense of the rest of us.
