Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsIf I make the longest OP EVER, what do I win?
I will only fill it with articles of facts and links to those articles about one side of a topic.
It will prove I can google and ignore anything else.
Then I will use that as evidence I am right, and that anybody who disagrees with me is on THE OTHER SIDE.
That should do it!

Your alert was unsuccessful so you start this bullshit/callout OP?
AUTOMATED MESSAGE: Results of your Jury Service
At Wed Jul 10, 2013, 02:39 PM an alert was sent on the following post:
What
http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1002&pid=3217504
REASON FOR ALERT:
This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate. (See Community Standards.)
ALERTER'S COMMENTS:
Disruptive because of its extreme size. It has already been posted as its own thread - could be referred to with a link. Don't want to start having this wall of text/images show up in every thread.
You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Wed Jul 10, 2013, 02:49 PM, and the Jury voted 0-6 to LEAVE IT.
Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: Well, that's 15 minutes I'll never get back. Hot air but I don't know why it was alerted on.
Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: Until it becomes a violation of TOS or explicitly forbidden, I don't see this as hideworthy. It's relevant. Obnoxious as hell, but relevant. Reluctantly vote to leave it alone.
Juror #3 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: No explanation given
Juror #4 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: Frivolous alert makes me wonder if alerter is on board with the goals and aspirations of DU and its membership. These shared aspirations do not include using every trick in the book to get commendable and perfectly DU-worthy OPs like this locked. Leave it.
Juror #5 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: It's a form of spamming another poster's thread. I'm sure we'll see a copy and paste of this reply again. And not just in its own thread. Other people do this as well.
But calling it a form of spam is just my opinion. So, leave.
Juror #6 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: Bwhahahahahahaahahahahahahaha!!!!!!! "Disruptive because of its extreme size." Wow. What a fucking reach! Look, I get that we have people here who don't like Obama. Why they are here, I don't know. Once again, I will say that I wish the admins starting thinning the herd of the libertarians and "independents" on this site. Shame on you alerter. Really...you suck.
Thank you very much for participating in our Jury system, and we hope you will be able to participate again in the future.

(17,111 posts)I think you left something out.
AND I didn't alert on anything. Please don't accuse someone when you don't have a clue.
You can start any thread you want. So can I or have those rules been changed?
If they get hidden, then so be it.

(12,296 posts)It was no more 'critical' than others that may or may not have also been alerted on by the sycophants.
No fair that you get to start a whole thread of your own about it!

(1,407 posts)I'll tell 100 people every day that I like eating Cap'n Crunch. And when someone starts a thread saying they don't like Cap'n Crunch for breakfast because it gets too soggy in milk or it cuts the roof of their mouth, I'll reply to that thread and tell them why they're wrong and that the only right answer is to only eat Cap'n Crunch for breakfast. I'll post several links supporting my answer to my posts from other threads where other people complained they didn't like Cap'n Crunch. And after I reply in that thread, I'll start my own thread and post the same exact thing as I did in the post.

(17,111 posts)writing better than I do is not a very high standard.
In addition, links do not equal thoughts.

(1,044 posts)Don't let any random thought go unexpressed. Eat a strawberry that tasted a little "off"? Start a thread! Red light out of order down the street? Start a thread! Have an opinion that could be expressed in any of 50 other threads on the topic? Well that's no fun - start a new thread!
Learn to turn off your filter. Embrace Message Board Tourettes! Just let it rip!
I should start a thread about this...

(32,017 posts)What would you win, really?
What is the point of the behavior you describe?
Is it ethical? Reasonable? In good faith?
No, it's bullying ... its clear purpose is to silence dissent, to shut down the opposition, to demean critics, to end the conversation, and to control the message.
I am quite sick of those whose sole purpose in posting here is to "control the message." On that point, I share your frustration.
We happen to be open-minded liberals here, for the most part, and we instinctually resist having our minds "controlled" as some here try to do.

(3,247 posts)There's a term called flooding that refers to the extremely prolific and long-winded participants in a discussion forum. Rather than an honest effort at discussion, flooding is a kind of bullying and the motive is as you say message control. Such participants are not going to make any converts, and their aggressiveness makes it apparent that isn't the goal. Rather, the goal seems to be to distort the dynamics of discussion. What is "won" by those who flood message boards with propaganda is our attention, which is being diverted from whatever topic the propagandists don't want to explore honestly and in depth.
