Egypt's interim government re-opens Syria embassy

Former president Mohamed Morsi cut Egypt’s ties with Syria on June 15 in support of the Sunni rebels, and on Sunday, Egypt’s interim government decided to re-open its embassy, according to a statement on the website of the Foreign Ministry on Sunday.

The ministry said that the improving of relations was in response to a demand by Egyptian expatriates in Syria and Syrians in Egypt.

A spokesman for the ministry stated that the countries have agreed to re-establish ties and maintain consular relations.
