What we are witnessing is the implosion of the Republican Party.

There you have it, with Rush Limbaugh's spiel *AGAINST* Fox News, they have officially turned on each other.

What you will see as a result of this, the republican party will divide itself into five factions:

1. The Gun Party - This is the group that puts the second amendment above all else. They are the NRA, the people who show up to buy AK 47s in droves after a horrific shooting like Sandy Hook. These are the people that freak out of the mere mention that a democratic president like Obama will show up to "take their guns away". Ted Nugent and Wayne La Pierre are their leaders.

2. The Tea Party (AKA The Anti Nazi Party) - These are the people, that, as Bill Maher calls them, the people who have a rock hard erection for our nation's founders, yet they do not know a single iota of what they actually stood for, nor can any sort of reading comprehension make them really understand. They will tell you that Thomas Jefferson made no mention of the separation of church and state, and that it was actually a Nazi plot when he stated it very clearly in his letters. They also think anything they're against is an elaborate Nazi hoax. Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck lead this party.

3. The Fox News Party - These are the people who hang on the every word of the commentators on the Fox Opinion Channel. They put Ayn Rand anti-worker philosophies above their own. They lie, cheat, and steal their way to the top, and if you ask them any questions, they freak out and go back into their bubbles. They claim the rich can do no wrong, and constantly vote in favor of them against their own interests. Rand Paul is their leader.

4. The God Squad - The televangelists, mega church preachers, pro life anti-woman radicals, and the people who claim to put their version of "God" above all else - when they really don't. Moderate republicans will claim to distance themselves from these religious fudamentalists, but really - they will actually side with this party on issues of women's sexuality, among other things. Their leaders include Rick Warren, Pat Robertson, and Rick Perry.

5. The Limbaugh Separatists - Since Limbaugh has thrown his towel in the ring and unofficially declared war on Fox News, you can bet that he will be trying to distance himself way back from group #2 and group #3. Of course, his brain dead "ditto head" friends and supporters will be too busy lurking and trolling forums like this one to notice. He of course is their leader.

Be sure to stock lots of butter, the division is going to be fun to watch.

Their peak glory days were the attempted removal of Clinton from office for a ridiculously juvenile affair with an overheated groupie.

The House Managers were the first ones who openly showed their extremism and voters started to toss them out quickly.

Now they're all seen as extremist and only cheating and gerrymandering has kept them in office, their margins falling steadily.

I will be delighted to see that party blow itself apart, the Reagan coalition ultimately destroying it completely.

Hell, the Republicans came closer to fracturing during Teddy Roosevelt's "Bull Moose" candidacy. Besides, if Democrats drop their push for most gun control proposals, they might be surprised how many GOP fence-sitters might come around to vote for them.

The republican party is a dying party because since the "southern strategy", it has depended on hate and division to win elections and stay alive. With minority groups that could once be ignored and critical thinking Whites forming a winning coalition that will push the nation forward toward great days, the republican party has nowhere to turn for new voters. The objective must be to eliminate the republican party as a major party, force it into the slimy shadows where it belongs. That objective will only be realized when democrats keep their heads down fighting and don't get distracted fighting over false scandals.

of the five.
A Ven diagram would show that these groups are actually quite close.

I wold say three is a better breakdown.

1. The old, racist John Birch society reincarnated as the Tea Party, Gun Party, with the Southern Sons of the God squad kKK. This is really the same group.

2. The Corporate Republicans and their faithful followers of Fox News. This is the party that will do anything to make sure that Corporations are the favored citizens of the U.S. of A. Limbaugh is actually a member of this group as is Beck. All the fire and noise will die down because there is a lot of money here. Members of the old Rockefeller Republicans who did not become Blue dog (Corporate) Democrats are the checkbook for this group and its brain.

3. The religious right that are not racist, but are working to make Jesus come back to Earth and Women subservient little baby makers.

All of these groups have enough in common that they will fall in line with the Corporate Republicans to nominate someone with enough fake appeal to the center and center right that they think he can get elected.

But they seem to be alive and well on the state level here in Ohio. They managed to gerrymander themselves into guaranteed districts everywhere outside the cities and passed some of the strictest legislation against women's rights in the country with amendments to the state budget that our disgusting excuse for a governor happily signed.

They will hold on as long as they can through gerrymandering and voter ID laws and other such tactics. Already we are at a point where more Americans vote for Democrats in their congressional races but through creative district drawing we have a GOP House. The OP may very well be engaging in wishful thinking based on anecdotal evidence (sloppy analysis if you will.) But the mega trends are in favor of the more pluralistic party - Democrats.

But their weakness is a feint. How else would you explain this country's continuous move to the right?

It's very ingenious actually, run weak and distracting personalities in order to trick people into thinking they are fools. They play dirty, and this is not their only trick.
