Bush was an effective president

Once he muscled his way into office he set a course that did not waver. He ran over the opposition not ever bothering to make friends or worry about making enemies. He was very successful.

His accomplishments include:
World war on terror.
Oil prices doubled.
No climate change changes.
Medical prices doubled.

Obama in his five years has accomplished little. He has tried to make friends of the opposition and worries about making enemies. His accomplishments include:
WOT continues.
Oil prices are stable.
No climate change changes.
Medical prices remain high.

The epitaph for Obama may very well be be:
"For a few brief moments, we had hope for some real change".

And we still have the damn voting machines.

Obama never stared down the opposition. He never really stood up to the republicans. And therefore he lost the democratic congress.

... that Obama has some kind of Stockholm or abuse syndrome.
He identifies with the conservative white upper class to a large
degree. Michelle Obama goes along with this. She is no Eleanor
Roosevelt.

4. That's the political "theodicy" an effective president would craft to pacify you
Mon Jul 8, 2013, 02:48 AM
Jul 2013

And to the OP, being able to pacify in a time of maintained insanity is as "effective" as being able to increase insanity. Presidents' have the primary job to polish the turd sandwiches that TPTB hand down to them, specifically for their bases. Bush and Obama have both done so with incredible skill, though Bush was vastly aided by a terror event.

I had hoped that Obama was not just another turd polisher. I hoped that because he pretty much told us he was not. But just as soon as he was well seated, he and his henchmen turned on the very people who put him in office; The Professional Left.

Stupid would just do it by executive order and makes the courts try to stop him. Clinton did the same. This is exactly what Obama should have done....but it would have upset the Republicans, and we can't have that.

17. He hasn't even used his ability to make recess judicial appointments
Mon Jul 8, 2013, 01:57 PM

and now Federal courts in a majority of states have vacancies because the GOP is blocking all appointments.

He has got to wake the fuck up or he's going to be remembered as a do-nothing president and make it harder for other people of color to be elected.

8. After Bush, we could elect a piece of toast to the office and be just as effective, I suppose...

current President notwithstanding. I don't fault President Obama for too much, really, given the blatant Republican obstructionism, and I give him some credit for things he has accomplished. As with Bush, history will be the ultimate judge. For now, however, my position on the constitutionality of virtually everything we are doing needs to be examined and discussed, by greater minds than mine, as well as by as many commoners as care to. No matter how one feels about it all, I can't wrap my mind around it all, as it appears these issues just cannot be satisfied without some Cirque de Soliel type contortions. Unless some outstanding information surfaces, it doesn't match up with even the basic teachings of a high school government or civics class, let alone the plain reading of the text. It's interesting for sure, and I will continue to post as I see fit, without being dissuaded by those taking pot shots. (just for those who have/would).

9. A lot of people think that Obama has been unsuccessful,
Mon Jul 8, 2013, 04:35 AM
Jul 2013

but I think he's doing exactly what he was sent there to do. He doesn't, I believe, see himself as being sent by the people who elected him. He believes he was sent by the people who made him. So it's a difference in perception that is the problem here. His makers sent him there to pacify the masses with small changes while essentially keeping things just as they were. At that, Obama has succeeded beyond their expectations, I believe.
