(62,325 posts)new Democratically elected leaders. The US prefers Right Wing Dictators in that part of the world because they are more than willing to do our bidding re their resources and the REAL enemy of the US, 'THE LEFT'
For us to even try to pretend the US had nothing to do with trying to intimidate a Latin American leader is an exercise in futility. Our recent history of torture (School of the Americas) and genocidal dictator friends and allies, now ousted by the people, keeps people on their toes when it comes to the US and Latin America.
It's a very touchy subject and we might as try to deny that the sky is blue as to pretend we are not still operating in Latin America interfering, trying to influence their elections etc.
