Just imagine for a moment Air Force One was denied the right to fly over Russia

because they heard a rumor that a Chinese dissident was on board. We would go apeshit, if Air Force One were forced to make an unscheduled landing for a reason such as that. This is outrageous. Bolivia has a right to be hopping mad.

Diplomatic flight, diplomatic protections. If he was on the flight he could have landed at JFK and all the FBI could do is scowl.

Portugal is responsible for their actions. Spain is responsible for their actions. If they have ambassadors in Boliva, I'd tell them to start packing. I wouldn't be surprised if Boliva PNG the entire embassy staff

Assange can call all those countries tell them Snowden is on the plane.

Who exactly would he call in those countries? Is he that fluent in all of their languages to convey what you are saying to the authorities?

And then all those authorities, without any proof other then a guy on a telephone spreading a "rumor" would divert a head of state's plane.

LOL. Ok, you win the most absurd ass covering contest.

...there is a lot of cheering against the U.S. whenever its snubbed by another country. Over the last weeks, countries from China to Russia have been cheered.

Why would that instance be any different?
