Its now a possibility. Fun political geek twist: Snowdens dads lawyer is libertarian powerhouse Bruce Fein!
Bolivia threw a possible lifeline to the surveillance whistleblower Edward Snowden on Tuesday, telling Russian television it would consider granting him political asylum to escape from what it called the espionage network of the US empire.
As other options began to fade for Snowden, trapped in the transit zone of a Moscow airport, Bolivian president Evo Morales said his country was keen to shield the denounced.
Snowdens father, meanwhile, stepped up the rhetoric in favour of his sons actions on Tuesday, publishing an open letter that compared him to colonial independence fighter Paul Revere.
The letter was signed by Lon Snowden and his lawyer, Bruce Fein, who also reported receiving a phone call from WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange. Fein told the Associated Press that Assange, in the phone call on Saturday, delivered what he said was a message from Snowden to his father, asking him to keep quiet.

(11,495 posts)Who told the older Snowden he needed a lawyer, and how did you come to end up with Fein? Is the older Snowden a Paul follower also?
Just seems like there are a lot of question that need to be answered.

(11,495 posts)I wonder how he was put in touch with Fein. There just seems to be a whole lot of Paul followers involved with this in one way or another.

(39,319 posts)which is closely connected to AIPAC, a main lobby for Israeli interests. Feins business associations largely consist of foreign governments and large oil conglomerates, all of which seem to be strange bed fellows for a constitutional lawyer of the United States.
MAGE: Bruce Fein the most well-connected Lawyer in Washington DC, Langley and Tel Aviv.
In recent years, Fein has had his ethics called to question over a money laundering scandal involving the Turkish Coalition Of America (TCA) and Republican Representative Jean Schmidt from Ohio. This prompted a House Ethics Committee hearing in August of 2011. Although Fein was representing Schmidt, he had been in collaboration with the TCA and the Turkish lobby for sometime. Its not hard to think there may have been a conflict of interest.
Sibel Edmonds, a well-known FBI whistleblower had this to say about Feins character:
I did not have to invent Bruce Feins Foreign Lobbyist status. It is in Mr. Feins resume and his past and present practices, showcased by him right here. Mr. Feins intimate associations with the CIA, the State Department and the White House are not based on any allegations; it is in his resume as written by him. Mr. Feins position and membership in the Neocon Nest AEI is a fact that is highlighted and used by him when needed. The ruling on Mr. Feins foreign lobby money funneling scheme is not some rumor; it is in an official congressional report.

Confirms that an uber-Libertarian (with right-wing tendencies) has formed a coalition in this incident. Fein has ties to Paul, Greenwald, et al.

Next we'll find out the whole lot of these assbuckets are Karl Rove's cousin. It will still be "not about them," because, you know, we have a perfect view of Snowden's selection criteria and process, so his own interests and politics couldn't possibly be relevant, his manner of releasing information being completely objective and all, yeah?
Some people are fucking idiots and will insist on being fucking idiots their whole lives.

"Fein's message therein has so far been praised only by politicians and commentators from the fringe of the political spectrum. Ron Paul (via Campaign for Liberty), Ralph Nader, Glenn Greenwald, Judge Andrew Napolitano, US Representative Walter B. Jones, Jr., are the only prominent political figures so far to have publicly declared their concurrence with Fein's analysis."
