8. I had a similar chat

with someone on Face book the other day. Had them agreeing that maybe we should join together and go after the corporations and not the poor. The person did like my comment. They are convinced it is the poor and have a hard time with facts like that, I hope this person did a little digging to see if I was right.

I need more info like this to cope with the wingnuts on my Mom's side of the family. Surprisingly, Mom was actually a very tolerant, even liberal person; but, my cousins......OMFG!!!!

My mad as hell at everything right wing father wouldn't be intellectually honest enough or humble enough to admit he had it wrong. For every time you get him to begrudgingly concede a point here and there, he will have to use false equivalence to find 10 more that he thinks supports his dogma.

That's fairly moot anyway since trying to articulate a cogent and rational response will be stymied by rude interruptions, yelling, and parsing and questioning the validity of every word you use so as to break your "argumental momentum".

The only way their will be no fighting, hating or screaming required is if one lets him spew his bullshit and says they agree with him.

Next time I think I'll just punch him in the face. At least he'll have a real reason to yell.

These corporations actually factor in TWO kinds of Socialism into their books.

The Corporate Socialism they get in the form of "business incentives" to EXIST and the Public Socialism from underpaying employees so they remain in poverty and are eligible for things like Food Stamps and Medicaid.

On edit: If the idiots defend the Corporate Socialism you need to say, "I don't like the idea of MY TAX DOLLARS going to an already wealthy corporation to make it so small mom and pop stores can't compete. Let them sink or swim on their own!"

In the case of my family, all I could do was wait for all of them to die. They did - and the peace and quiet is wonderful. It took many, many years for the relationship to end up where it did.

Has a comeback for every fact, point of logic or appeal to reason. Really, it's part of every single diatribe. Unless he's going full tilt spooky on the viewers to get them scared shitless. And they can't shut off his voice in their heads for more than a second or two. It pops back up like a 'earworm' song.
