The DEA is 40 years old today. It's time to euthanize that sucker.

Forty years of no-knock raids, reliance on snitches, ripping up grandma's pot garden.

Tens of thousands arrested, tens of billions spent, and drug use levels are about where they were when the DEA was chartered, by Richard Nixon.

It spent $8 million last year attacking medical marijuana providers.

It has been a formidable obstacle to research on the possible benefits of various illicit drugs. Medical marijuana, anyone? Treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder through Ecstasy-assisted psychotherapy? Psychedelic therapy for end of life? Not if the DEA can help it.
