In getting ready to head to the texas capital

I'm getting ready to head over to the capital for the abortion rights rally.

Whether a woman chooses to get an abortion is none of my business. It's between her,her doctor and her conscience. The idea of a government getting the middle of that is abhorrent and should be abhorrent to any small government conservative . In addition, the way the senate tried to shut down the filibuster was ridiculous. claiming a discussion of recent abortion restrictions enacted in Texas isnt germane to a proposed law restricting abortion is just plain stupid. and yet the senate did that. clearly they have no time for opposition.

If the anti abortion foes were really interested in reducing abortions they would be passing a law requiring the teaching of real sex ed starting in middle school. Texas has one of the highest rates of teen pregnancy in the country and yet I dont see the state doing anything about that.
The anti abortion side claims that the law is all about protecting women's health. And yet they reject medicaid expansion despite Texas having one of the highest rates of uninsured women in the country.
This is more about Texas trying to pass a law to pander to the far right and the religious right. Im tired of it. and therefore I will do what I can to fight it and to fight the far right.

I expect there to be right to lifers there and I expect they will call me pro abortion ,pro baby killing. That's not true. Abortion should be safe, legal and RARE. But this law will do nothing to reduce abortion,It will just make them more dangerous. But the right to lifers dont seem to care about that at all

By Texas standards, it is cool. Only 90 degrees for a high in Austin today. Expecting records lows in the DFW area the next 2 or 3 days. Who would have thought, but I am no complaining.

I agree with your post except for "I expect there to be right to lifers there..."

Why do most pro-choice people allow the anti-choice, pro-fetus crowd to refer to themselves incorrectly?

Texas has a governor who just executed the 500th citizen (a woman no less).

And he babbles as a headliner at a pro-fetus event on the same day. That is NOT a pro-life position. He and others like him should be referenced as pro-FETUS, but anti-LIFE.

When confronted by anti-choice pro-fetus fanatics, I always ask them how many unwanted babies they have adopted. And then roll my eyes in mock horror when the answer is none.

Every time one of us repeats their "pro-life" or "right-to-life" self-labeling, we add credence to their incongruous positions.

I still like your post, urge support of Wendy and others, just hate letting them get away with false advertising.

Wife (the artist in the family) is busy doing up a great sign. Hope to have photos for everyone when the LA protest is finished.

CNN and M$NBC are slobbering wall-2-wall over the Zimmerman trial.
(Of course Fox is lying that 80% of Texans support the measure).

For instance, life doesn't END when a baby pops out. That life requires health care, an eduction, and all the other things the right wing doesn't want to provide. They want the fetus protected, but after that it's on it's own.

I find this to be a huge flaw in their stance of being "pro life". They aren't pro life, they are pro fetus and that's it. Well...what do they propose be done with the fetus once it becomes a person? You can't just force something like this on someone and walk away from it. There are many more issues involved when you're truly pro life than just making sure abortions are illegal.

Remind them that Saint Ronnie legalized abortion in California, and by their logic murdered 1 million babies.
