I want to brag on my union a bit.

I've certainly ragged on them for some of their weaknesses, so I think they should get equal time for their positive contributions.

For instance, next week, I have Jury Duty. Now, I am the primary wage earner in my family so I probably could have gotten an indefinite waiver, but because I'm working for a unionized hospital, if I end up on a multi week jury, my hospital pays my full wages for that time (minus the $15 a day I'm getting from King County). So I can serve on a jury. which I truly believe is one of my civic duties and still put food on my family (sorry, I shouldn't have brought back that stupid Bushism. But wait, that was oxymoronic).

They've also been pushing to make sure we get our full breaks. And when I work a 12 hour shift, getting breaks means I give safer care.

I really like being in a union.

K&R!

Great benefit to perform a civic duty. The only time I was called I wasn't selected.

We also get 2 hours to donate blood.
