General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsA big THANK YOU to the DUers that can 'see me' and 'hear me' and
that have given me 'hearts' over the past week or so.
It has truly cemented my resolve to stay here on DU and continue to post pro-Obama articles, political news, etc.
You see I currently have 21 DUers that have me on ignore, BUT the 22 hearts that I have received (out of the kindness of ya'll's hearts) have counteracted the sadness that I was feeling each time I looked at my transparency page.
So, thank you very much and please know that each and everyone of ya'll are very much appreciated
And THANK YOU FOR DONATING DURING THE PLANNED PARENTHOOD FUNDRAISER.
HAPPY VALENTINES DAY TO EVERYONE

(29,257 posts)I see you and hear you but I am now regretting it.
If everyone posted one of these, do you have any idea what the board would look like!?
Tx4obama
(36,974 posts)there was nothing wrong with me posting a 'thank you' post also.
If it bothers you too much then you have the option of clicking on the 'trash' button.

(17,656 posts)Well, well, well, why don't you sit back down in your high chair instead of standing up in it and yelling at her like that.
She's doing what a lot of others won't, precisely for the very reason you just made an example out of yourself for doing!
Some criticism is warranted, and some ain't.
I happen to like her threads.
We're not like China where the people don't get to vote for their President, for crying out loud.
The Chinese President is going to Iowa later this week and they explained tonight on the news report just how he got to be the President in that communist country to begin with.
It was pretty interesting to learn that only 9 high-ranking Communist party members in China are the ones who get to vote for their President.
Their perspective leaders are chosen from a small group of men that have been pre-selected as possible party leaders, years and years in advance, long before they are chosen as a possible candidate to be the President.
They are groomed for decades on proper protocol and given high-profile, high-status positions within their government to see how they perform before they are ever considered to be selected as one of that small group of men who are at that high level of being considered as a candidate to be their President.
Thank gawd we don't have that kind of system in this country!

(4,477 posts)And... reading your description... the process doesn't seem all that different, really... except that we don't bother to winnow down the candidates in advance with tests of competence... just with fundraising skills (prostitutes would do rather well with our system, maybe not so well in the Chinese system as you've described it).
I won't comment on Tx4Obama's competence, or her... "fundraising skills"... because, frankly, {honesty extirpated, lest it be considered "rude"}.
One thing is for certain... I'm ... glad(?) that we're not making the ... mistakes (?) that China is making with their economy... I'd hate to see the US economy in the state of the Chinese...

(62,277 posts)Some people do not like knowing that they're being heavily ignored. I know that I can understand ostracizing nature of such a thing. The hearts acted to the OP as a remedy to any sort of hard feelings they got for knowing the number of ignores.
Sometimes people just have to shit on everything, I swear...

(146,338 posts)Why are they a problem for you? I posted thanks for my hearts in a thread someone started for that purpose, but it has drifted far out of sight, now.
It's nice that people are thanking others for those hearts. I simply can't see any problem with such posts.

(149,737 posts)I don't see your post as a vanity post at all!
I see it as a heartfelt thanks, and I think it's great!
I appreciate you, and all your contributions to making this the best board on the internet.

(8,419 posts)We brawled over the Wisconsin recount. That being said, it never got to the point to put you on ignore. Since you were right, have a heart.

(4,507 posts)call me a Ron Paul supporter or stifle the ability to question so that we can anticipate opposition arguments and craft better, more well-reasoned responses (or discover that we disagree).
Don't stop a process that follows from this - if "we are supposed to be the change," which is something heard a lot, well then no one trying to give a nudge should be slapped across the face for that.
I'm not saying you do any of that, and I can't recall ever seeing you do anything like that.
Anyone who is more than willing to take - and respect - questions should post any pro-Obama info they've got.
I hope this post isn't viewed as antagonistic, because I can't recall having a shred of antagonism toward you. Just laying out one of those "can we do this, so we can all get along?" things.

(57,936 posts)I put one person on ignore once, and regretted it greatly later. I'm just so nosy I wanted to see what was on the posts that I was ignoring.
Why do people put other on Ignore? What is the point of visiting a discussion website if you close yourself off from the comments of certain others?
joshcryer
(62,277 posts)So the number is likely higher...
I got another addition in the past day (now up to 16). Must've been something I said about Latin America since that is the only place I posted. Or saying I missed LoZ. I guess that alone merits being ignored.

(27,985 posts)I was surprised when I found it. Three people have me on ignore. I spent about 2 seconds wondering why and 5 seconds being grateful that I didn't know which three. Then I moved on.

(15,438 posts)my second one, Tx4Obama! Happily so.
I enjoy your pro-Obama posts immensely. They're like a breath of fresh air here these days.
Don't let the naysayers discourage you. It's hard trying to remove the thunderous cloud of those Badluck Schleprocks, believe you me.

(62,277 posts)Just kidding. I don't, as someone noted, like the idea of removing someone from my existence.

I've received 14 hearts and have 15 people ignoring me. Don't be sad, it's their loss
Also, thank you to all who donated to Planned Parenthood

It's cool to get hearts and it's cool to thank the people who gave them.

(37,648 posts)If you have 21 people ignoring you, this might be a good opportunity to sit back and consider how you interact with people in writing. People usu. ignore others when they've acted like a jerk or called them names or insulted them, IMO. The whole point of a forum, after all, is to interact with other people. Not get them to ignore you.
Tx4obama
(36,974 posts)Secondly, I have never called anyone any names or ever intentionally insulted anyone.
In my opinion the reason that so many folks have me on ignore is due to the fact that I am an Obama cheerleader
But of course I have no proof of that since no one has ever told me 'why'.
