Ballantine Books has announced that it has cancelled publication of Paula Deen’s New Testament, originally slated for an October release, even though it’s currently the No. 1 most popular book on Amazon.

There was systemic racism, sexism, and violence in HER restaurants that SHE knew about and did nothing to stop. DO you think it's fine to tell your EMPLOYEES "women should have flat heads so when they give men BJs there's a place to put your beer." Do you think it's A-OK to make black staff use a different bathroom from white staff? To force your female employees to look at porn? To use racial epithets every single fucking day? Deen was told about these problems for FIVE years and did nothing.

She is a flaming bigot. As are her supporters.

a hostile work environment where the men watched porn etc. VERY stupid on Deen's part to allow this kind of thing and think it's amusing.

16. On last Friday's episode of Real Time,

Maher made an excellent point when he basically said that it is pointless to be going so hard after Deen just because of one word, when there are even worse offenders out there who don't necessarily use the N-word, but regularly partake in dog whistles and support policies that have contributed to the plight of the Black community. As a Black man, I totally agreed with him there, and personally, I just see it as a word and am not really offended by people using it. I hear people use it so much, particularly online, that I have almost become numb to it. Like he said, those who deserve to really be jeered in our society are the likes of Sarah Palin...the Donald Trumps of America, the Newt Gingriches, the Rush Limbaughs...people like them.
