CNBC host Andrew Ross Sorkin has apologized to Glenn Greenwald for saying on Monday's program that he would have arrested the Guardian journalist for his role in publishing the leaked NSA documents provided by security contractor Edward Snowden.
I put my foot in my mouth, and Im sorry about this, when I veered into hyperbole and suggested that he almost be arrested -- that was the quote -- and I have to say it didnt come out right and I misspoke," Sorkin, founder of the New York Times DealBook blog, said on CNBC on Tuesday. "Im sorry I said it that way, and Im sorry I said it.
"I was trying... to raise a question, not about the legality of publishing the leaked information about the NSA, but about the implications if a journalist aided someone like Snowden in trying to evade authorities on the run and what the would all mean," Sorkin went on to say. "I overstepped with my language."
Sorkin had said on Monday's program that he "would almost arrest Glenn Greenwald" for wanting to help Snowden. Greenwald immediately criticized the remark, pointing out "the dark irony that someone who works for the NYT... is suggesting that journalists be arrested."

I rather think Sorkin is more sorry that his latest BS has caused so many on the Internet to rehash his relentless fluffing of the wealthy and powerful.
