On May 20th, Snowden fled to Hong Kong-- this supposedly is when Glenn Greenwald first heard of him

At least that's what Glenn said this past Monday on Jake Tapper's show.

"I didn't even know where Mr. Snowden worked or what his name was until after he was in Hong Kong with the documents. We had some preliminary communication with him about how to communicate secretly in a way that would be secure. But other than that, nothing."

Don't you think Glenn needs to explain this tweet?

You are paraphrasing Greenwald to say something he did not say. He said he didn't know what his name was. Is it so inconceivable that Snowden was communicating with journalists using a pseudonymous name instead of his real name? I don't know why you think this is a gotcha, but it's not.

As others have already pointed out, he first started talking to Snowden in February, but didn't know the guy's name or who he worked for until he met him in Hong Kong. There are several people here who think they've found a smoking gun and they'll get to see Greenwald on a scaffold soon. Glen Greenwald isn't nearly as stupid as many of his detractors appear to think he is.

He is also considerably more intelligent than his detractors.
